GUI_1welcome.png

ICON12.png Welcome, I'd like to present my most recent project, currently in heavy development. I bring you, PHANTASY FRONTIER. I've been playing Monster Hunter Frontier for many years and fell in love with it. I always dreamed of creating my very own exciting quests and adventures in a Final Fantasy II pixel-style game with modern twists. With the recent closure of the Monster Hunter Frontier servers, I was very disappointed, especially with no classic RPG games out there that involve heavy grinding and hunting various creatures to craft superior gear. PHANTASY FRONTIER will bring a massive amount of content that many will enjoy. The game is guaranteed to have you playing over 100+ hours while keeping you from getting bored as there are many interesting activities to do in the game. This game features original thoughts and planning, not intending to copy anything, but with the intent to create something the way I've wanted to with hopes of it becoming enjoyable for the large audience. The game is to remain PC exclusive...

GUI_2story.png
ICON12.png The journey begins! We're introduced to four newly promoted Slayers, Akio, Itsuki, Kami, and Yunisa! They are sent to the great and beautiful town known as Neotoji Square, home to the bravest and most heroic Slayers to have ever lived! Of course, with massive dragons, daemons, wyverns, and a great number of large predators out there, the threats never cease to exist. This is why there just isn't ever enough Slayers. With that being said, our new heroes arrive at the town with a lot in their hands including a vast number of quests waiting to be tackled.

The new Slayers are immediately informed about strange crystals that appear in a wide variety of locations, known as Vortex Crystals. The Research Leader explains the dangers of these crystals. Monsters who stand too close to their aura or consume them become infected with the Crystal Virus. Monsters infected show unusual side effects, including increased hunger and extremely violent tempers. It is known that if an infected monster dies, depending on their strength and how healthy they were, they resurrect while also gaining ultimate strength and power from the virus. Their attacks become deadlier and can inflict a weaker form of Crystal Virus to their targets. Targets infected with this weaker virus die in a matter of minutes. After its host dies, the virus goes along with it, as it needs its host to survive.

With this newly learned information, the Guild notifies our heroes of any sightings regarding infected monsters to be immediately slain. As you progress, you'll unlock more and more Crystal Virus Quests until the Guild finally finds the monster that creates these crystals and sends you off for a great showdown against the mysterious monster...

GUI_3features.png

ICON15.pngThis is the list of features, please note, updates will add new features, weapons, quests, or resource packs. PHANTASY FRONTIER will focus on adding new items to the table for extra challenge.

FEATURE STATUS
ICON03.png
Complete.
ICON01.png Work in progress.
ICON02.png Yet to be implemented / May be partly implemented.

ICON01.pngClassic turn-based combat, nothing shouts ''classic'' louder than a good ol' turn-based battle! Prepare your attacks, manage your items, use tactical equipment to gain the upper hand, and make sure you deal as much damage during your turn. Use special items to drop enemy agility levels, or blind them with a handy Flashbomb. Unleash powerful spells and turn your enemy into fairy dust.

ICON01.png Explore different ecosystems, from magical forests and marshlands to vile volcanic zones. Each location features a great number of unique items exclusive to their ecosystems. Also worth mentioning, each location has its monsters and unique boss monsters to fight and gather materials from.

ICON02.png Quality enhancements, including beautiful lighting effects, bright flares, features parallax maps, and bright sunny days. This includes simple HUD options, you can enable or disable specific parts of the HUD to your liking. All these things affect how the game feels and how your experience will be when you lay eyes onto the very first scene.

ICON03.png On-screen encounters, I despise random encounters, which is why PHANTASY FRONTIER has encounters properly shown on the screen with proper coloration to distinguish what monster it is. No more annoying 80% encounter rates other games offer, you choose when to fight when you feel prepared for it.

ICON03.png Different weapons, PHANTASY FRONTIER features different types of weaponry for all sorts of situations. There are 6 weapon types that each play very differently.
GUI_w1.png
Swords focus on inflicting status effects and elemental damage while maintaining efficient DPT (damage per turn). Swords are also known for having at least 1 Gem Slot. Gem Slots can be filled with a Gem that can increase a variety of stats.

GUI_w2.png
These are weapons that rely on MP (Magic Points) to unleash their highest DPT. They're perfect for unleashing fast combo attacks and have a wide variety of Combat Arts involving impressive DPT. Most Light Swords focus on elemental damage and greatly increase Agility but decrease Defense.

GUI_w3.png
Want to inflict massive DPT with a single strike? Look no further, the Great Sword is here! Its normal attack features a mini-game where you must perform a timed-attack. The more accurate the timed-attack is landed, the heavier the blow will be. These weapons use up lots of MP but many come with a small Defense boost.

GUI_w4.png
Much like the GS, Hammers are built to smash monsters right in the noggin! They are capable of stunning monsters once enough hits are landed. Their power falls slightly below a Great Sword's, but their ability to stun monsters makes up for that loss. Their Combat Arts don't feature much action and mainly focus on single powerful strikes, so it isn't too smart to bring only Hammers to a fight. Combat Arts that increase the chance of stunning a monster heavily rely on MP.

GUI_w5.png
Repeaters come with with a unique Combat Art that increases its user's Evasion Rates by 90%. Many Repeaters also come with a boost in Agility, but a decrease in Defense. Their Combat Arts involve feeding as much lead to your enemy as possible and using different bullet types like Thunder Ammo, Fire Ammo, Ice Ammo, etc. Some of their Combat Arts change their bullet types which include: Poison Shots, Sleep Shots, Napalm Shots, Paralysis Shots, and Explosive Shots.

GUI_w6.png
Tonfas are known as end-game weapons and require rare materials to forge. They are essentially a combination of Sword, Light Sword, Great Sword, and Hammer. Tonfas perform extremely powerful attacks, so powerful that they are capable of creating small, high-powered explosions. In addition to this, they have a small chance of stunning enemies and have Combat Arts that involve GS-charged mini-game attacks to deal unforgivable damage. Tonfas massively increase Agility and Defense, but heavily drop Magic Attack.

ICON03.png Wide variety of items, from Potions and Energy drinks to Grenades and Flashbombs. There's always the right equipment to get the job done. A good variety of items, while keeping it simple to not flood your inventory with consumables. Purchase Tactical items like Grenades to blow up groups of critters and bugs. Use Flashbombs to blind monsters and use that time to heal or unleash all your attacks.

ICON01.png Rank up, complete enough quests to rank up and earn respect from the Guild. Each rank unlocks new materials, monsters, skills, and much more. Ranking up also unlocks new types of quests like Hardcore Quests and Ascendancy Quests. Ranks listed below in order:

[Amateur Rank] >> [Advanced Rank] >> [Elite Rank] >> [G-Lvl] >> [GG-Lvl]

ICON01.png Huge variety of quests, over 200 quests with more being added each update! Below are the different types of quests featured in the game:
*Gathering Quests: focus on locating certain items and delivering them in at the delivery box.

*Slaying Quests: require you to eliminate several small monsters.

*Big Game Quests: engage in battle against more powerful foes.

*Crystal Virus Quests: fight boss a monster until its slain, await its transformation and battle its infected form! Twice the danger, huh?

*Hardcore Quests: fight against variations of boss monsters, now featuring enhanced attacks, huge HP pool, and unusual behaviors, all in hopes of acquiring Hardcore Materials.

*Ascendancy Quests: battle superior monsters that have massive stat boosts. They're known to have "charge up" attacks that can instantly cause the death of your entire party. Incredibly difficult and are useful quests for forging end-game gear.

*Exotic Quests: battle flagship monsters from other RPG Maker games! Experience the horror and chaos of monsters from popular RPG Maker games that developers and I agreed to include as bosses.

*Festival Quests: go face to face with ultimate Festival Exclusive bosses! Each boss has 3 separate quests, one for repelling it, another for slaying its normal form, and the final one requires you to slay it's extremely difficult Supremacy form. These quests are for those who've unlocked the most powerful equipment and still crave a challenge.

ICON01.png Slayer Road allows you to tackle a series of challenging Quests. Defeating a boss unlocks another more difficult completely random boss, meaning one fight you'll face a fairly easy foe and the next you're face-to-face with a Hardcore Monster! Continue defeating and unlocking more bosses to reach the top of the ladder and fight the super-secret Wyvern of Light!

ICON01.png Earn Slayer Road Points by completing Slayer Road Quests. You can use these points to purchase all sorts of materials including those with low drop rates. This will help prevent heavy grinding and allow you to get what you need a little quicker.

ICON03.png Use ingredients to prepare a Bento! Bentos are new and powerful packaged foods that temporarily increase a variety of stats. They can be consumed without using up a turn. Simply go out and search for ingredient (or buy them from the shop), and go through the list of meals you can create using the ingredients you found!

ICON02.pngBattle monsters from other RPG Maker MV Games, with the permission from other developers, you can go on the hunt against flagship monsters from other popular RPG Maker MV games and experience their catastrophic fights.

ICON01.png Explore the Tsuzu Dungeon. Feel a little tire of slaying monsters and just want to explore the unexplored? Visit the Gaverna Dungeon! Unlock secret paths, discover rare items, fight special enemies that level up as you do, mine for rare ores, reveal hidden weapons, and fight mysterious bosses! There's much to do in the Gaverna Dungeon.

ICON03.png Visit the Restaurant, gain extra buffs by eating foods from the local Restaurant. These meals provide much more efficient buffs, but can be very pricey. You can tackle Spring Quests to unlock more meals.

ICON03.png Special Combat Arts (AKA overdrives), use Combat Arts to perform all sorts of fancy attacks. They work much like overdrives or limit breaks. Perform massive attacks and demolish your enemy. Each weapon has its own unique Combat Arts that can be learned. With over 50+ Combat Arts and the ability to equip 3 Combat Arts per Slayer, you'll be able to unleash all sorts of stylized attacks.

ICON01.png Slayer Guide (Achievements), with so much content in PHANTASY FRONTIER, you may feel a little overwhelmed, this is why we've created the Slayer Guide! The Guide lists different tasks that can be completed. Upon completion, you are rewarded with materials and money. Following the Slayer Guide can help you advance in the game, as it shows you how to defeat powerful bosses and what their weaknesses are. With over 50+ tasks, there's always something to do in the world of PHANTASY FRONTIER.

ICON01.png Forge powerful gear, with materials you gather, you can create top-notch weapons and armor. Fight strong monsters, collect their materials, gather some more, craft your favorite weapon and armor, repeat! With a great variety of weapons and armor that provide different skills, you'll be able to slay monsters quickly and efficiently.

ICON01.png Forge Trinkets and weapon Gems/Refine Gems, craft powerful Trinkets capable of unlocking abilities or enhancing existing ones. Use special weapon upgrade Gems to further improve weaponry, increasing their basic stats. Take it one step further and completely refine your weaponry using advanced Refine Gems to create superior weapons.

ICON01.png Cast magical spells! If you create a Magical Stone and equip one, you'll unlock special magical spells with their abilities depending on the type of Stone you've equipped. Craft fire elemental Stones to unleash flames and hellfire to your enemies, or create a Chaotic Stone to bring down destructive meteor showers to your foes. Want to become a healer? Simple, equip a Rejuvenation Stone and cast healing spells to save your Potions for more difficult bosses! With a huge variety of Stones to forge and the ability to equip one Stone per Slayer, there's no limit to the amount of chaos you can cause!

ICON01.png Magical fox pets, care for up to 4 magical foxes known as Patonas! Feed and pet each Patona to increase their mood. You can then test your friendship with one and unlock powerful buffs, depending on the Patona and its mood. Go on an adventure and play as one of your Patona to try out different mini-games, from Coin Rush to Patona Race and Darts.

*Coin Rush: Collect several coins while trying to gather as many materials before time is over.

*Patona Race: Rush down the jungle against other Patona before they beat you to the finish line!

*Darts: Use the dart launcher to hit moving targets. Each target is set to an icon of the material being rewarded. Hit as many before time is over.

ICON03.png The Farm, gather different kinds of items from your time-based farm, ranging from Mushyrooms to delicious Honey. Upgrade each cultivation to increase their gathering limits. Sell these farm items for more money or use them to create a variety of Potions to save money.

GUI_4updates.png
ICON12.pngExpansion packs will be a big thing for this game. I plan on keeping the PHANTASY FRONTIER updated, fixing bugs and all sorts of errors that may arise. I want to add more to the game for everybody to enjoy, especially those who manage to acquire end-game gear. These updates will be montly and completely free to those who've purchased the game.

As a small note, PHANTASY FRONTIER will be affordable, and with much content to offer and free future expansions, it is more than a fair price. PHANTASY FRONTIER will release at $8.00 and will increase with every update.

GUI_5bosses.png
ICON15.pngAs mentioned above, with the approval of developers, there will be exclusive bosses from other popular RPG Maker MV games marked as Exotic Quests. These quests are meant to be high-grade and extra difficult. The idea behind this came from me thinking about how awesome it'd be to use the weaponry from PHANTASY FRONTIER and challenge the big baddies from other games along with their move sets and super moves. If you'd like to feature your boss on PHANTASY FRONTIER follow the form below and send it to me via PM.

-Keypoints-
*Credit to the creator will be given.
*Links to the developer's game/social media will be provided.
*Assets will be used under royalty-free conditions.
*Featured bosses cannot be removed.
*Featured bosses can be included in the game while it's still commercially available.
*Generated profit will not be shared.
*Sharing your bosses is a decision you make deliberately.

GUI_6battlers.png
ICON07.pngOf course, PHANTASY FRONTIER will feature original bosses carefully crafted by me or other amazing artists like Ækashics! I want to put these battlers into great use and not just make them feel like "another basic monster". Bosses in PHANTASY FRONTIER feature unique fighting moves, each monster has it's own style and primary attack. Below are some bosses featured in my project.

GUI_7screenshots.png
ICON16.pngHere are some screenshots of the game. The product is not final and many features may change. The game is still under development and there's much to be done before it's complete release. Much of the RTP is in the progress of being replaced by original art.

*NOTE*
At the moment, I am using many RPG MAKER MV assets that will be replaced with updates. My focus is to get the game up and running at a playable state. Assets can easily be replaced.

ICON17.pngTesters needed! Making a game is difficult, making it alone is very challenging. I have text files everywhere with features I need to add, features I need to fix, who I need to credit, and much more. It isn't easy working alone, spotting every error is nearly impossible. If anybody is interested in testing PHANTASY FRONTIER in its early stages, feel free to let me know down below.

That's a very ambitious project, so I'll be looking forward to the demo. Regarding the project's name, any chance that 'Phantasy' is derived from Phantasy Star Online? It is Monster Hunter's sister series of sorts after all.

This looks like a crazy amount of work and a weird mixture to tackle on RPGMaker... that said, I'm a huge fan of the MH series, played most entries in the series, so I'm all for it :kaopride:
Also, I would love to play test it; I'm very free starting this weekend, so PM me if you are interested :rhappy:

Does it need to be a finished game for the boss form?

[Thread update]
-Added a gameplay video featuring 2 entry-level Hardcore Monsters.

That's a very ambitious project, so I'll be looking forward to the demo. Regarding the project's name, any chance that 'Phantasy' is derived from Phantasy Star Online? It is Monster Hunter's sister series of sorts after all.

I searched up "Phantasy" and I believe it is a more modern term compared to "Fantasy". My game features modern weaponry, like Repeaters and whatnot, as well as some futuristic equipment and materials. So I thought Phantasy would be more appropriate. I never actually played Phantasy Star, I've heard about it, but never came to mind when deciding on my project's name.

And I'm glad you're interested in the demo, this thread will be updated with the link as soon as it's completed.

Thank you! Yeah, it was an insanely rough start! So many variables to keep up with, even had to make a step-by-step text file on creating quests and new tasks. Thank you for your support, glad to meet another Hunter! :D

As for testing, I'll get a test up and running as soon as I fix some of the things I know about. I'll keep you in mind and will PM you with the test project when it is ready!
:p

Does it need to be a finished game for the boss form?

No. Feel free to submit it via PM! :p
