Is there anyone here besides myself that thinks Phantasy Star franchise is far better than Final Fantasy franchise?
And that Phantasy Star IV should definitely have a REMAKE pretty much like Final Fantasy VII?

I agree that Fantasy Star 4 should DEFINITELY get a remake (as long as they don't fix a certain battle so you can no longer level everyone up to 99 in a few hours ;) )

I wouldn't go as far as saying that it's better than FF though... I would say personally, it's on the same level with a different flavor.

I'm mainly a fan of episodes 1 and 2 on the gamecube and Blue Burst for the pc. Spent hundreds of hours just looking for gear that comes from the red boxes. Still waiting on an official PSO2 release for the west....

Never played any of the games before or after the ones I mentioned, so I have no idea If they played the same or not.

Aeris death is considered iconic by critics and gamers overall, but I would dare to say that Nei's death was much more significant and hearth touching than Aeris'. Plus, PS2 was released much before FF7, FF7 got all the credits for innovating something that wasn't new. Not to mention that PS2 and PS4 were much more gloomy than FF7, considering their age of release, and explored themes much more deeper than any other subsequent game from any other franchise in the 90's.

I love FF7, but I consider PS2 plot much more superior than it. If it had a better narrative and a more fluid gameplay, it would surpass any FF I know so far.

I personally don't even care for FF7, it bored me to tears, I got halfway through and didn't finish. My favorite is FF6.

Played a bit of ps2 on the Sega collection. Have not really played it much, but that is mostly because I have lots of games I have started but not fully finished.

I'm not alone! :guffaw:

The original PS2 requires a lot of grind in the beginning. It's really boring, but after you got all the weapons and initial equips, things got more easier.

Yes I heard it is the hardest in the series, I got wrecked by that blaster thing in the second dungeon.

I like Phantasy Star as a series, really great series, but it's stall in 1994 and not moving up to next gen, like every other game franchise was doing at the time, really hurt it as a series. If a Phantasy Star V was released on the PSX or even the SEGA Saturn, and it was good, it would've helped the series IMO. Some may argue that PS4 was supposed to be the last game in the original series, but it was the general flow of game companies was to move up to 3D by the mid-to-late nineties. This is all my opinion. xD

I played Phantasy II, III and IV, Phantasy Star Online Episode 1&2 on Gamecube (Sega Dreamcast port), Episode 3 C.A.R.D. revolution, and Phantasy Star Universe.

They're fun, but sadly i don't see much Phantasy Star games nowadays.

Actually, I'm only a fan of the first, second and fourth games. I could never get into any of the modern games, and the third game was just boring. I've probably played the original game the most and I loved how it had an overworld map, but first-person dungeons.

Between Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star and Dragon Quest, DQ was the first to be made, but we in the states actually got Phantasy Star first.

I've actually never played anything other than Phantasy Star Universe, and that was a long time ago... I thought that game was pretty decent though.

Shame that I never got to experience the whole online part.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
