So, to the best of my ability I can say I have searched for a solution to this problem before hand, spending a few days and trying different ways of using the plugins. At current for the base of this scenario I am using the plugins Hime's Weapon Damage and Phoenix Kage Desu's ABS. As a second I am aware that the ABS plugin is still technically in Alpha, but hes kept that name for a few years now and is beside the point of this post, so before I side track too much further, let me get down to this.
The Actor (in this case Harold) has an attack of 20.
The Enemy (just a generic bat atm) has a defense of 20.
He has an Axe (just generic comes-with-the-game-install), and using Hime's plugin, deals 1*(math.randomInt(3)+1)+((a.atk-10)/2) damage. This means it deals anywhere from 2 to 4 points of damage, plus 5 for the actor's attack. This weapon does not give bonus attack states/stats or anything. This brings its total damage to a range of 7-9.
I am certain Variance and Critical Hits have nothing to do with it, as Variance is set to 0 and Critical Hits is set to No.
I dont think that the defense does anything (I could be wrong) with the way I have it set up as it doesn't factor in to the damage in any way, and tests using the Play Game button confirm this.
Good so far? Great!
Now, for some reason, when I use the ABS plugin, the damage immediately spikes into ranges of 35-55. I have looked in all areas of the plugin as well as Hime Weapon damage and cannot for the life of me find where all the extra damage is coming from.
The ABS is set on the skill as it is required (<ABS:1> being what the plugin demands for this particular case, as is the reloadParam tag).
Below are the screen shots to show this (to the best of my ability. I lack screen recording software :<).
Also, I am aware there are other plugins listed, but those pertain to miscellaneous things that from what I can tell do not even touch the battle system. And yes, the image shows a 6, but thats the lowest Ive seen it go and I am hopeful it will be fixed when this mystery is solved x.x
