First thing I learned so far (though I'm still new to this), don't be afraid to ask others for help and feedback. I feel like getting a second opinion or two on something is really going to help in quality in the end.

Really nice packs, and also good that there are two complementary pirate packs :D

The first thing I learned to do while making games was how to handle switches and variables, because I was told that I can't do really much without them.

It took a while, but after I did understand them I felt a little proud ^^

That making a game is a lot harder than it looks.

The packs look great.  can't wait for the forum store to get fixed so they are in them.

Entry:

That dialog and text needs to be keep at a minimum and be short brief and too the point.  I learned this by playing numerous maker games and often got sick of having to click through lots of dull dialog.  (One game I played even had over 20 minutes of dialog clicks in it before you could even as a player do anything.)

A game is not a novel and a player would rather be playing a game than having to read lots of unnecessary dialog.

What is one of the first things you learned when it comes to making games?

- when i've noticed that there is a program of making rpg games, many things that come to mind. that is called "imaginations". a person has unusual and different imaginations but only existed in the mind not in the world. but once you put those imaginations in a game, this is where i've learned that, "Imaginations does exist" and many people can see it.

----

i really2 wanted that pirate ship tiles for my future games( even though i still have'nt created one but almost done).

Pirate music pack, omg! Really great songs!

What is one of the first things you learned when it comes to making games?

I think, that would be: Don't plan too big games with tons of features and maps. Start with a small scope and get to a first playable version as quickly as possible.

Love the pirate ship tiles, been wanting tiles to make a ship since I first got Ace; one of things I felt was really missing. From what I listened to in the samples for the mystic voices pack I think they sound kind of awkward.

Entry: I had some experience with rpg maker 3 on ps2 so when I got Ace I knew the first thing I should do is to make a small game in scope that I could develop while learning the basics of the software. Honestly I can't stress how important this is, i didn't do this with rpg maker 3 on the ps2 and started about 7 games that I never finished where I ended up finishing my first game with Ace. I used minimal scripts for this game (just a few plug and plays to make things more visually, etc...) and made sure to work on a project idea that I was not personally attached to. Seriously, do not work on your dream game or a game idea you have been wanting to make for quite some time as your first project idea;

you will likely not finish it because with a lack of experience you will never be able to live up to the game you want to make.

The first thing you learn is switches or else, you make a million worthless maps and badly done worthless maps at that.

Taking breaks is important when making games. Also organizing doesn't hurt either.

Ohhh whaaat?! A voicepack?!! And pirates >v>

Entry: Oh, one of the first things I learned was that I couldnt, no matter how much I wanted to,

make a giant-extreme-perfect 40 hour rpg game of the year based on ideas alone... and as my first game.

I could have a million ideas, and not have the skills/energy to execute one of them.

Mostly the energy. I'd quickly get burnt-out or bored and move on. x^x

One of the first things I learned is that quite a lot of work goes into five minute gameplay.

- The first thing I learned about making games is to make sure to be crystal clear about your visions and plans for the game with others that are helping you make it. A couple months into development, me and my co-creator each decided to draw up a world map, figuring that we were on the same wave-length about how our world was set up. Long story short, we didn't even have the same number or continents! o_O

Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
