Play As Party Members.

Hello! I am new to RPG Maker, and i would like to know if there is a way to switch between party members to play as them.

What i mean as in my rpg will have party members that you can play as, say if i was making a rpg about mario i would want to switch to play as either mario or luigi. Just a simple cosmetic feature, but if it's possible please tell me.

You never play as a party member, you always play as the entire party. That party may have only one member however.


That said, there are several scripts that allow you create multiple players/parties and switch between them.

As far as "switch between" are you referring to changing the order of the party you have so your leader is different, swapping between party members in separate areas, or replacing one character with another?

For the first, you can call script and use $game_party.swap_order(0,party slot swap target is in).

For the third, you just need to use the party events combined with a switch. Based on the state of the switch, have the event remove one party member and add another, taking advantage of $game_party.swap_order with some variable values if you need the replacement party member to replace the original's slot in the party should more than one member be there.

The second is a little more involved but if that's what you need I can run you through an overview of what you'd want to be doing.
