Play Test often failing to launch

Ever since I started using RPG Maker VX Ace from steam I have experienced occasions where it would take two or three attempts to launch a Play Test. I would get the standard windows message "RGSS3 Player has stopped working" and asked to "check online for a solution..."etc or "Close Program"

 

Recently this problem has exploded into sometimes taking 10 attempts to launch a play test till it works. This is slowing work flow at an alarming rate and I have no idea why this is happening and really want to fix this.

It would help to give a little more information.

What scripts are you using?

What are your system specs and are you using compatabilaty modes?

Did you try running ace in administrator mode?

I believe it's just a issue with the stream version, because when I started to do some work in another program and then tested, it ran fine.

The OS is Win 7. The problem happens with or without scripts. In my experience if the script has an error a message explaining that error would appear instead. It is almost as if the RGSS3 engine is failing to boot all together. Steam runs through admin mode and i believe that means all software within should launch in admin also.

The strange part is its instability, it sometimes happened very rarely and others it happened often. Tonight the problem has increased considerably, the only change is an update to steam. I am wondering if there is a bug within the steam version that has been overlooked.

I am following this line of thought also as the stability of the Play Test mode seems show some correlation to steam updates and network overloads.

Try putting steam in offline mode and test wether that changes anything.

If Steam is running in the reglar mode, it will cause blocks to all programs if it gets network problems, but RPGM can run in offline mode (I've installed it on a notebook and have to switch offline when I'm not at home with the notebook)

Otherwise, try deleting & reinstalling Ace from steam - I had to do that once to get a bug out.
