A blonde chick wanted me to come to her huge castle and play with her, or I die. Fair enough. I seem to know everything about that, only my comrades are worried. But they are just stupid
.[Starts out a bit clumsy, but nice, I am hooked]
5 seconds later we were at the front gate of the castle. Guards already awaiting us. My comrades (Fatbeard, random Pirate and Pegasus from Yu-Gi Oh!) thought this was suspicious, but I told them it is ok. I know everything, so they don't need to know anything. Turned out Fatbeard is a dwarf...I don't like dwarfs and will try to dump him or lead him into a trap as soon as possible. Pegasus turned out to be an elf. Fair enough.
[A bit too much cliche to be honest. Ale drinking dwarf, funny thief character, noble elven mage and...well, Vincent. I think you will explain later why he seems to know everything]
I walked into the first shop, turned out to sell candles and soap. The shopkeeper told me I should buy soap for the filthy dwarf. I agreed...but she didn't sell me anything.
2nd Shop looked better, but everything was freaking expensive. 10 Gold for a single piece of rope...but I needed something to hang Fatbeard from the next tree – deal!
3rd Shop had a nice looking gargoyle statue. Wanted to buy it, but the shopkeeper told me to look around...again and again. And the other shops? No one wanted me to show what they got. Maybe because I spent my last 10 on the rope? How did they know?
[How about making shopkeepers talk a bit more about themselves, the town and your party...not just „I sell XY, but not to you!“ Otherwise there is no real reason for them to be here...and even if they are important for quests later, they could use a bit more personality, not only funny alliteration names...all in all the lower district feels a bit empty. Only the Soaplady had a few nice lines]
Finally Fatbeard ran off for beer and women. Jackpot! But then some weird force made me follow him. Fair enough. Fatbeard was the only one drinking in the bar...we others had no money. That filthy dwarf had some extra money in his pocket. A dude approached us and told us that we are the champions of death...or something like that. I knew that of course. Seems like my comrades knew that too, at least they weren't surprised. Weird...but fair enough.
[This scene could have been so good, and it turned out so bad
, You finally find out why you are here, champions to break the curse of the mansion...others have tried it...all failed. You are scared and nervous, this place seems to somehow weaken you and your comrades...but you have no choice now! BAM! Scary faces! Dark music! Drama! It turned out to be...“Champions?“ “Oh well, yeah...whatever.“ „I will train you and your party!“ „Ok“ „Fine“ „If you have to“.]
Then it was boring questing time. Found a daughter with my awesome tracking skills, let Pegasus examine some rope and pirateboy some other stuff. Fatbeard wanted to repair the fireplace at the inn, but I knew that the stupid dwarf would do it wrong so i did it myself. Unfortunetly it crashed. I told Fatbeard to fix it but he was insulted and didn't do it...and it seems he stays a stupid dwarf and doesn't get a new skill...fair enough.
[Come on...can't the quest be a little more interesting? I know these are just the first ones, introducing what the characters can do...but please: Let magic man examine magic rope? Let Bounty hunter find lost girl? At least have Bounty Hunter convince the girl to follow a stranger by eather buying candy for her or choosing the right answer. The first minutes in RPG maker games are the most important ones! After I had completed 3 of these quests I was curious what would happen if someone other than the obvious choice would try the quest...]
[...And this is how the story ends. It seems like I have to complete all Quests before I can move on (either sleep or go north). But I did try to repair the fireplace with vincent, just to see what happens. Turns out the maid keeps telling me „at least you tried“, Fatbeard doesn't get his repair skill and I cannot move on, sleep or leave the town...I wonder if that happens with all the first quests when you choose the wrong character for the job...]
