How do I remove the message "Player has started to escape!" that shows after you select the Escape option in battle?

I just want the running sound to play, and then a fade back to the map or whatever. No message please!

Thanks in advance :D

Open your script editor and go to the script called 'Vocab'

Go to line 32 and delete the words between " and ", but leave the quote marks.

You can change the vocabulary of almost everything there if you want to.

Thanks! But the message box still appears. It's just blank now.

I'd like for it to skip that message completely. I'm fine with the "Couldn't Escape!" message, but the "Player has started to escape!" needs to go ^-^

You could try deleting the quote marks as well, which I think will delete the message box, and move straight on to the couldn't escape message (which I think needs amending because of the "it" which it refers to).  But you will need to test it to make sure that it doesn't throw an error somewhere else.  I think you should be okay, but I'm not 100% sure.

It now says "Couldn't Escape!" to replace "Player is escaping!" Lol

Well maybe this is an instance where you simply can't escape due to the way the engine calculated the possibility of that.  To test it, go to the default script BattleManager and change line #224 from 0.1 to 1

This means that you are guaranteed to be able to escape.  If you are still getting the 'couldn't escape' at least you will know it's not because of the RNG.

Yeah, I'm able to escape when i do that. The "Player is Escaping" has just been replaced by "Cannot" escape since I deleted the quotation marks in the Vocab script.

*Pushes Escape*

"Cannot Escape!"

*Escapes*

Lol

Try adding this:

Code:
module BattleManager  def self.process_escape    # $game_message.add(sprintf(Vocab::EscapeStart, $game_party.name))    success = @preemptive ? true : (rand < @escape_ratio)    Sound.play_escape    if success      process_abort    else      @escape_ratio += 0.1      $game_message.add('\.' + Vocab::EscapeFailure)      $game_party.clear_actions    end    wait_for_message    return success  endend
I only commented one line and left it in for you to see. I didn't test this, so if it still displays and empty message, you would need to move the "wait_for_message" into the else branch.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
