Hey there folks, long time lurker here.

I'm looking for a way that allows players to run their own shop where they can put items up for sale after which NPCs or invisible NPCs come to 'buy' things set on a timer. This is probably a rather advanced request, though and I haven't been able to find anything. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, if not I might have to try my hand and scripting.

I'm not exactly sure how it would work via "timer" but I'm fairly sure this post might help a little at least.

Have you tried any of the following scripts? They may help somewhat, not all the requested features though.
  • Shop Stock by Tsukihime
This script adds a "stock" count to each shop good.
[*]Once a shop good's stock reaches 0, it will no longer be available in the shop.
[*]The stock is set up for individual shops. One shop's stock does not affect another shop's stock.
[*]The stock is only setup once: if you leave and come back, the stock remains the same
[*]Shop Clouts by Kread-EX
  • Create a network of shops belonging to the same group.
  • Repeatedly shopping in one specific group raises your client level, which may drive shopkeepers to sell better items to you.
[*]Shop Upgrade by Galv
  • This script is another aesthetic one. It modifies the default shop to include:
    - A background graphic

    - An image that can be used as a shopkeeper that can change throughout the shopping process (examples of using this is for smiling when you buy/sell item. Frowning when you don’t buy something, etc).

    - Text that shows throughout the shop process for the shopkeeper talking. (Thanking you for buying something, asking if you need anything else, etc.)

    - All the above can be changed with script calls to be different at each shop.

    - Use a variable to determine selling cost rate.

    - Rearranged shop windows and modified equip status window.

    - Added a ‘show details’ screen to see weapon stats and item effects

    - Added ability for each shop to keep it’s own stock. Selling items to shops will add those items to the buy list.
While we're on the topic of shop scripts, this doesn't do what you described above but you might like it...
  • Replace Shop Vocab by CT_Bolt
Change all the vocabulary in the shop scene.
[*]Provides finer control over each shop.
[*]Random Vocabulary for all the shop vocabulary.
    [*]Support for Galv’s Shop Upgrade
[*]Compatible with all other scripts (to my knowledge).

I am not sure how any of those would fulfill what he wants.

I'm not sure about the other scripts but I believe your has some helpful capability. The only part that seems to be missing is a scene for selling the item to the shop.

I did misunderstand what the request really was though (until just now )... I will do more research on the subject. :)

Yup, that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I believe the game Alchemist Meister has something similar as well.

Yeah I guess not... I thought I remembered using one of them to do such a thing but I cannot figure out how to do it again.

I am writing another script that will allow you to sell items back to the shop.

Basically you need a way to convert a raw item (RPG::Item, RPG::Weapon, etc) into a shop good.
Are you still working on that script? That would really help Zedicius with this problem. ;)

I need a working shop stock script, and the existing one people probably don't like because I don't provide a nice way to display the supply count.

It works but because there is no suitable shop window for it, no one's going to use it. And if this new script requires the shop stock script, which can't be used out-of-the-box, it is just a waste of time.

I am also looking for a script like this. Been trying to figure out if this could be evented but so far I have not had any luck. I want the player to be able to sell items from their own shop example: a Crafting item. If the items are sold out the player will have to restock them. I also wanted to have a shop star rating system. the higher your shop stars are the more people will come to buy your stuff. The player can close their shop so they can go adventuring or restock supplies but they could also hire an NPC to run it for them. They would have to pay the NPC for their time and can set the amount of time/days they will look after the shop. I want to have this type of system because I am making a kind of Resturant tycoon game :)

I have also been looking for a script that could manage food spoilage. for example; you have an item with the note tag "Food" the item will spoil in 5 days after 5 days the food item will turn into rot. you could store the food item into an Icebox and it would extend the timer from 5 to 10. The food items would be used for crafting items. but so far I have not found a script for that either. D: if you know anywhere where I can possible get these types of scripts or know of a way this system can be evented I would be very happy ^_^.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
