Player speed issues for cutscene

I'm trying to make this cutscene where the characters are walking, but for some reason the player just rockets past the followers, leaving them behind. I thought I could fix this by changing the speed or frequency (or both) in the movement route but that just gives the bugger cold feet, and they don't move while the followers walk ahead. I've tried it with speed and frequency separately, and together.

This is my current set up for it, with the event spot included. I tried making an event for the player sprite themselves, but while that worked, it gave me a hussle with the camera movement doing what i wanted. I WANT to believe there's a way to slow down the player's speed in a movement route. I really, really do. Please tell me its possible.

Pity you didn't show the whole screenshot.

Events move at speed 3 by default - not sure what the frequency is. So change the player's speed to 3 and get rid of the frequency.

Make sure only the final move route has Wait for Complete checked.

Oh, I didn't realize I had to put a Wait on the last movement. Thanks!

I've reconsidered having a subclass system for my first two games since there will already be plenty of variation in playable actors and usable items in the games. The third game will need it because of the basis for the story but I want the actors in the first two to be more focused in their roles.
