player touch won't trigger

first post here, i'm a noob

so, I have an event setup --

  • movement; custom  - move right, repeat
  • speed; normal
  • freq; highest
  • tried all three priorities, currently on below
  • direction fix and walking anim. both on
  • trigger; player touch
  • contents; game over
essentially it's a boulder moving forward that's supposed to kill me upon touch

however what happens is that it only kills me IF

  1. I walk into it once it has hit a wall and isn't moving anymore
  2. I'm moving in the direction it's going whilst being atop of it
it appears to me that the timeframe it has between doing the movement to check for playertouch is tiny as hell or even skips now and then due to high freq, yet i need the freq becaus it has to move fast and fluently, is there any way to fix this?

What you describe is the regular behaviour - Player Touch is for when the player moves into the event. If the player doesn't move, player touch will not trigger.


You need to use event touch - that triggers when the event moves on the player.


(there is no trigger for event-event, all touch triggers involve the player)


If that doesn't help, give us a screenshot of the event.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
