-Before I begin, I should mention that I have read and searched through other white screen/playtest issues and mine does not seem to match any that i have found-

My game was running fine, it's very bare-bones at the moment, but it was working as intended.
I'm only using two plugins:

HIME_PreTitleEvents
YSP_Preloader


These have been working fine, and i have no issues with these.

My basic problem:

The game was working fine, all events running as they should, splash screens were working, preloading images was working, title screen was working

I have playtested at this point: all working

I added an event to continue the story, it consisted of a SE, a text box, and a screen shake

I then playtested again here: white screen, game did not load

I undid my changes (deleted the event) back to the state the game was in when it worked

I playtested again here: still white screen, and now, no matter what i try, I am just left with a white screen, whether I playtest or deploy.

I have not touched any of the files in the game folder between where the game worked and where it didn't work

I'm pulling out my hair here, I may not have much to show for my work (maybe 5 minutes of gameplay), but it has taken me a while and I was very proud of what i had so far, and obviously, i don't want to lose the hours of work I had put into making the game.

I do have several screen snips of the maps and the white screen i receive when playtesting, if this helps

This isn't the first time I have had the issue, this would be the 4th time this has happened (different events each time) and each time I have had to delete the entire game and folder, and start from scratch, which is very frustrating, so if anyone has any advice or solutions, I would be incredibly grateful!

A screenshot of that event would be helpful so that we can see what you have done. As you have already deleted it, could you recreate it exactly as you did the original? For the screenshot, please use Alt+PrtSc so that it takes a shot only of the event window, not your whole desktop, as that is much easier to read.

Yes, not a problem. I use a snipping tool so I can select only the portions of the window I need
I believe the image is attached? (Sorry, I'm new here, created an account just for this post)

As I said, this isn't the first time this has happened, and it has been different events each time.

Even after deleting the event the game still doesn't work

I will happily screenshot anything that might help the issue be resolved

This might not be the cause of the particular problem, but why have you set that event to autorun? Do you want it to run as a cutscene when the player enters that map? Also, you haven't ended it with e.g. a self switch, so it is still active and preventing your player doing anything else.

Yeah, it plays automatically the moment the player enters the map, to act as a cutscene

It doesn't have any end because it's unfinished, i was trying to test the timing of the sound effects and the screen shaking, I often test my "cutscene" events multiple times before I have finished them, then make minor tweaks as I go along - I find this easier than making long events and then changing timings afterwards

I don't think that is causing the issues, because I've been doing that with each of the other events I have made so far

Edit:
I should add - The player currently isn't even able to reach this event, as trying to open the game just gives a white screen, whether this event exists or not

Okay...

I'm not sure how, or why, but-

I moved the entire game folder intro Dropbox, and deleted the original folder, then I created a new project with the same name, then I opened the project from within my Dropbox folder and it has loaded perfectly, and playtest runs fine, even with the event still included.

I have no idea why it worked, or how it worked, but it worked, so I'm happy.

If anyone can figure out why, I would love to know

For know, I'm going to run it all out of Dropbox, at least then my files are automatically backed up

I'm sorry for wasting your time

Bad idea.
Really, really Bad idea.

Because the way RM opens files (like a database program, not like a filebased program) is incompatible with other ways.
If dropbox tries to sync while the editor is open, it will destroy the project files.

Doesn't always happen because it depends on timing, but if you check this Forums you'll find dozens of cases over the last few years where projects Wege lost because of this.

Ah ok, thanks for letting me know

I'll move them back then, and just use dropbox as a backup after I have saved my work

I still can't figure out why the game broke in the way it did though

I just found out that MZ regional price on Steam in my place is much cheaper than MV.
Our water started to work again, now i don't have to fill up our toilet with water again.
Finally able to return to work after months of lockdown. My poor feet are hurting :( I need to get used to working again haha
