Playtest Failure

After working on the game for a month now I got it almost finished...until my free trial ended. So I got the full version of RPG Maker Vx Ace and when booting it up everything seems fine until when I try to playtest it. When I click the button it just goes straight to a text box saying "Failed to create process." Heck, I can't even open the .exe file. I did some googling and I think that files are missing. So hopefully someone can help me because I've been working on this game long enough to give up now.

I'm not sure, but I want you to try some things:

  1. Check if everything is in order with the Game.ini (open it with notepad)
  2. Open a new project and try to load your project from that and save.
  3. Copy a Game.exe from a different project and replace the one you have.

That rather sounds like a access rights issue - where did you save the project to (directory with restricted or full access), and do you have any Background program that controls for malware (some of them wrongly consider RM-projects as malware, you need to place an exception in them)?

As i can guess, you're using windows 7 are you? Find the folder where your game is saved. If it's in The program files, then it may sound like acess issue.

I went to my notepad in the game files and found out that the title is missing, I put in what my title was called and I still had the error message, other than that everything seemed fine. I also tried to open another project and it worked completely fine so nothing is wrong with the application. I'm also not sure what you mean in number 3.

I saved the project to multiple places like my C: Drive, my desktop, and multiple folders. I also know that my malware program doesn't affect the game.

Then please redownload and reinstall the maker, it could be that some files have been damaged on your computer.

Also, I don't know if I mentioned this, but this is what came up in the game notepad file. Is there something wrong with it other than the title and how do I fix it?

[Game]
RTP=RPGVXAce
Library=System\RGSS300.dll
Scripts=Data\Scripts.rvdata2
Title=

Why is the "Title=" empty? That might be your issue, try to remember your game's title and try adding it at the "Title="

tell us if this doesn't work or work.

I did that and it did not seem to work.

Assuming that new projects created by your full version VX Ace can be playtested without any problems, you can try creating a brand new project with the full version VX Ace, then copy over all the files from your current project into the new project folder, minus the game.ini and game.exe files.

It would be better if you copied over the rvdata2 files individually until you encounter the error, or until all the files have been successfully copied over.

Try playtesting after each rvdata2 file have been copied over.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
