Hey Guys, its me again...^^

I really need your help since Im literally stuck here.

Im using the Freemovement script from GaryCXJk.

and the "CollisionMaps" script from Tsukihime.

It works really nice together but sadly there is one big issue. Whenever Im walking diagonally against an event I get stuck in it and cant move until I go backwards. Events that I get stuck in also cant move until I go backwards. That only happens on maps where I use CollisionMaps on. When I teleport to a map without the <collision map> tag everything works fine and I dont get stuck in any events.

I hope someone can help me because I really need these two scripts working together.

I have uploaded a demo for you where you can see the "getting stuck problem" for yourself.

Thanks in advance :)

Greetings,

KIAS

Hey guys! I found out that the "CollisionMaps" script isn't required since GaryCXJk built in compatibility in his "Freemovement" script so that only the DLL for the "CollisionMaps" script is needed to use its functionality. Sadly the "getting stuck problem" still remains when the "CollisionMaps" script is removed. So it seems the problem lies in the "Freemovement" script. Can anyone help out?

Greetings,

Did you go back to the script creator and ask for help?

I'm having this issue as well, but I wasn't aware of how moving events were affected. I always assumed it was a simple quirk of the script- when I was using Quasi Movement this bug could happen when moving right or left, as well. I'm afraid I cannot offer any help myself, sorry.

I'm curious though, what happens when you use a collision map without using a <collision map> tag? I had a script commissioned recently for my project that, among other things, changes collision maps (as the script rotates maps by 90 degrees, so it has to change to a rotated collision map.). When I have the script fully implemented, I'll test it to see what happens.

In the mean time though, don't give up! Replies can be slow here, but I've gotten some great answers by waiting long enough. :p

@Robert-Character Creator Yeah the "getting stuck problem" happens with moving or fixed events whenever you walk diagonally against them. It really interrupts the gameplay since you can't even pass an NPC or walk around it cuz you are getting stuck in it all the time.

I dont know what will happen when I remove the <collision map> tag but I would assume that simply the collision map I drew wont be used by thw script but I will try it later today :)

Btw: your commissioned script sounds interesting. Are you using it for a overworldmap?

Edit: I tried to remove the <collision map> tag but it just happend what I assumed before: the collisionmap function doesnt work without the tag.

My commissioned script allows the map to be rotated 90 degrees, including moving and rotating events and collision, so that you can see every wall in a room. I'm using it to create more realistic maps in my game.

I knew that if you removed the tag that would happen, but I thought it might change things on my end, because of how my script affects things. Now that I'm thinking about it again today, it seems like I was just tired and came up with a silly idea.

However, hope is not lost! I'll ask the man who made my script to look into it next time we talk. Sorry I couldn't offer any immediate help.

I asked him to look into it. He said:
I can give it a try. A way of doing it is to check for events at two step distance instead of a single step. I am not sure you can interact with them that way though...I'll test it and tell you what happens.
So now it's time to play the waiting game. :)

@Robert-Character Creator Alright then I'll wait thank you very much :) Meanwhile the creator of the script replied to me saying that he isn't willing to work on it anymore and that I should try to solve it myself so sadly he won't help out here. Hopefully your scripter can solve it ;)

Since it's been so long, I'd like to give you an update. Unfortunately, I don't have much to say- he's simply stated that it's proving difficult to solve. When I get my check mid-next month, I'll send a commission his way to get him to focus more on it. It's not right for you to have to wait so long for such a little thing.

Again, sorry the wait's been so long. Have a good day.

Happy new year, I have some good news for you! I'm finally commissioning a fix for the issue now (bad year, please don't ask), and work begins in February. Hopefully this news is still of use to you!

It's done! At least it worked for me, anyway. Here, try it out.

You can use it so long as you give credit to the scriptwriter, Heirukichi.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
