Smogon really is ridiculous with their banning. For instance, how many Megas are NOT banned now? See, they started banning megas that countered other megas, so then the ones not banned became insanely difficult to beat, and then they get banned too instead of just bringing back their counter. And why Aegislash got banned is WAY beyond me, he is so laughably easy to deal with, I almost am relieved to see him in someone's team now.
See, people vote to ban these things cause they dont research how to counter them. Instead, they probably got beaten once or twice by it, got their egos hurt and started holding a grudge, calling the pokemon that beat them overpowered and unfair, when in all actuality they just made bad decisions themselves. Like when Mega-Kangaskhan got banned... she literally can't do crap to Assault Vest Conkeldur, not a thing. His defenses are massive, and his attack is even better. He laughs when Khan hits him, then one shots the poor mega. Want a mega to counter Khan? Try the hardly used Mega-Bannette. Khan's best moves wont touch bannette, and then you have the fact that bannette literally runs almost the same moveset that got mega-gengar banned (but somehow is okay on other pokemon... how does that make sense?). The problem though is that people started getting beaten by Khan, and instead of changing their team up a bit to counter it, they just voted to have her banned. People who rely on smogon to ban everything that they personally dont care for are seriously turning in to the biggest whiners on the planet. "Oh noes! Speed Deoxys beat my all fighting type team again, he must be too overpowered and should be banned!!1! There is no way a psychic type should be beating my machamp so easily!".
Rant aside, Smogon ticks me off.
On the mega topic though, I see it differently kind of. I like the fact that we are getting more megas. See, once megas were introduced, they changed the entire game, you can't go back now. The way it goes now, you pretty much need a mega to beat megas, just as you used to need a legendary to beat a legendary. But the problem with x and y was that there were so few megas, and even fewer strategies dealing with those megas. I think though that now we are getting more with different uses, the megas are going to start balancing themselves. As we get more, we have more counters to existing ones and the relatively unused ones from before (Im looking at you Medicham and Banette) will now counter the new ones, evening things out a bit. For instance, Mega Abomasnow was alright, but he was easily one shotted first turn by M-Garchomp. Garchomp will be no match for M-Salamence, but Salamence will be no match for M-Abomasnow. Now, the one I am terrified of though is Metagross. His only setback before was his Speed... now that is on par with his other stats and his other stats even get a boost as well... I am going to predict that Arceus may lose his title of Pokemon God soon... Lol.
