Wait what? How?

The thing I notice about starters, and this comes from my own observations and attempts at making a Pokemon fan game, is that they kind of fall under a similar base stat total. In addition, they do the best in the early stages of the game because the pokemon that appear around those early areas are designed to be weaker by comparison. This is why pokemon like Caterpie, Rattata, or Pidgey would not really work well under starters imo.

Well, the one thing I can say to everyone is this fan game is NOT like other pokemon games. I can't really explain without giving tons of info away, but I can assure you that allowing different pokemon to be starters would work out somewhat fine here. I mean, of course, picking caterpie as a starter is like putting your game on legendary difficulty, no matter what kind of fan game you play, lol.

Maybe it's the prototype of Mewtwo? There were many "failed" experiments to clone Mew prior to the completion of Mewtwo... Or it could just be an alternate form.

It really doesn't feel like a form to me. It feels like a completely new pokemon. In fact, I think I may be rather disappointed to have him be a form of Mewtwo. I personally would like to see this be the next stage in the genetic experiments, so a "Mewthree" type deal.

I believe this was confirmed as a Mewtwo form last night. (Or this morning on Pokemon Sunday in Japan) I personally am very excited for it.

Serebii is still saying it has yet to be confirmed as either a new pokemon or new form. The only thing they say is confirmed is that is it closely related to Mewtwo.

Lol, looks like Bulbapedia lied. I just read their correction. Either way, It looks sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time they've made two legendaries in different generations closely related.

Also, finally:

Bug- Venipede

Dark- Sandile

Dragon- I would say Trapinch, but he's ground :/. Either Axew, Trapinch or none.

Electric- Mareep

Fighting- Timburr-ton

Fire- Litwik

Flying- Starly

Ghost- Duskull

Grass- Budew

Ground- Trapinch (Maybe just leave out Dragon but still have this little ant-Dragon bro)

Ice- Vanilite

Normal- Whismur

Poison- Nidoran (Which one? umm........)

Psychic- Gothita

Rock- Rhyhorn

Steel- Aron

Water- Spheal

 

This list is assuming that all the evolutions aren't an issue, and also that Pokemon work best as starters with three stages.

evolutions arent really an issue, i mean if you where making a pokemon fan-game and had no ability to trade, you would sure as hell make a way to evolve the traded evolutionary pokemon, such as kadabra..

obviously it wouldnt be totally "pokemon-like" then, but if you have no possible way to trade, then theres no real alternative. or you could always have a little person in-game to trade with

This relative of Mewtwo reminds me of Freiza from Dragon Ball Z lol, though I'm not sure whether or not I like it yet... I'm like that sometimes.

Personally, as I said earlier, I feel it has some resemblance to Super Saiyan 3, the head-tail reminds me of the really long hair that SS3 gets.
