I think the Pokemon Adventures manga series has done this... At least to a certain extent.

Better then the anime by a LOT, I read up to book 14 and it's probably my favorite manga series. I wish that they would get the Ruby and Sapphire books translated to cover though...

They do have darker spin-offs geared towards adults.... we just call them creepy pastas... O_O

Eh, I'm a sucker for stories like that, hence why I have such a soft spot for creepy pastas. I like how the story played out and how we were told about each trainer's lifestyle before we learned what happened to each one. What happened to the Houndoom trainer though gets a bit depressing and pasta-ish.

I assumed team rocket captured a crap ton of them at Mt. Moon. Thats why they are so rare, cause in other games they can be pretty easy to find compare to the Kanto Celfaries.

Or it's also possible that they aren't truly native to Kanto considering how plentiful they are in Sinnoh. Kind of like how Farfetch'd and Tauros were more common in Johto than in Kanto, in spite of the fact that's the first region they've appeared.

Well, just cause you got to explore a region first doesn't mean those Pokemon appeared there first. They could be native to other regions, just you don't know that cause you were only just introduced to a certain region first. Mind blown... Lol

Yes, then we learn that Zubats, Geodudes, Magicarps, and Pikachus don't have a native region. They're from ALL the regions, you're just not looking hard enough in Unova.
