That's what I mean... since TMs are removable that what made it better, it was useful at the beginning of gen V against the second gym, but after that, see ya.

Do you think it was a good or bad move for Game Freak to make TMs reusable? To me it seemed like a good idea because it meant that I didn't have to worry about accidentally wasting a rare TM on a Pokemon I wasn't sure I would use later.

Haha, that reminds me of this.

I think they could definitely pull it off if they had the player hold onto Goldeen's fins or something, and just sit in the water themselves.

Well, here's the hoping several pokemon can be ridden.
That is hilarious...maybe the effect would have been better if Gary/Blue was riding on a Doduo though, you know, the bird Pokémon that doesn't have any wings?

That was one of the best additions to the series really. One-use TMs are nightmare fuel, lol.

It also had the effect of making HMs look even lamer. TMs are infinite use too, aren't necessary to progress, and you don't need a move deleter to get rid of them (seriously, what's up with that? In 1st Gen you could only remove HM moves by trading a Pokémon to a 2nd Gen game and using the move deleter, then trading it back, yes I've done that...But once they made all your items with you at all times, why are you stuck with HM moves? You can't get stuck in a location for deleting Surf or Cut or whatever because you have the Pokémon that had it in your party still, and you have the infinite use HM in your bag...so WHY??)

Yeah... HMs are demon spawn. Game Freak just likes to watch us squirm, knowing we'll buy the game anyways. Only explanation. I mean, I understand using HMs to create obstacles to prevent you from doing certain things, like how in the Johto region you need Waterfall to get to the Elite Four, but why can't we delete moves that have no use outside of one obstacle. If it was better implemented, maybe it would work. Like, give cut a special effect on  certain pokemon. I think they also should make better use of the egg group system. Maybe create moves that cause ______ group pokemon to flinch, or a move that makes ______ group pokemon increase defense.

RMMV
I like the concept of HMs, actually. Moves that allow you to interact with your environment and have potential use for solving puzzles are not bad ideas and actually immerse you into the game.

I agree, however, that they are kind of becoming obsolete to TMs, especially since Gen 5. They should make everything a TM, really, as it would allow players convenient control over their pokemon's move set (they can add and remove moves for whatever purpose as they feel necessary) and it would eliminate the hassle of Move Deleters.

When I was creating a pokemon fangame years ago, I came up with an idea to use items instead of HMs. EX: Use a surfboard to use surf or use a sword to cut down trees (and maybe trainers :) ) so you don't have to teach worthless moves to your pokemon, but the good moves like surf still exists as TMs.

I just realized something that supports the theory of a Fairy type. All of the names of the new eeveelution Sylveon have a type of fairy-like creature in their name. The American name Sylveon is sylph-eon, the Japanese name is Nymphia and the French name is Nymphali, both coming from nymph, and the German name is Feelinara, which I believe to come from the word fay. This seems to support the theory that there will be a Fairy type, and that at the head of it will be Sylveon.

Yeah, and...well, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I heard that they revealed Umbreon before they revealed Dark type. So, it's like, what type is it? Oh, it's a NEW type! And Sylveon just, it doesn't look NORMAL, it doesn't look like an existing type, Fairy just fits it SOO well. Oh, and Umbreon was the only Dark Pokémon you could get in Gold/Silver before beating the Elite Four (seriously, that was bogus), so, it was really "at the head" of a new type. Steel really didn't get the same treatment, but at least it got a retroactive type changing with Magnemite/Magneton. I still wonder how many Pokémon will become/gain Fairy type if it's real...(hello CleFAIRY)

I dunno, "fairy" is not really an element. All of the other types are sort of elements... Except for bug, dragon and ghost of course... so yeah, it could be fairy type. Personally, I wouldn't really like a fairy type. (because it isn't an "element") I'd make it... hmm... say, light type. I think that would be a better type than fairy. And it would still fit to the looks of Sylveon. However, I have also heard many people saying it might be love type.

Actually, now that I think of it, love type would make more sense.

Ah well, we'll see :)

The game takes place in France and Sylveon was annoced on valentines day... so love type is a possibility. Fairy fits with Sylveon name. And light would also fit with the X legendary...

Also, found out another interesting thing on X and Y, X is horizontal on a graph (meaning left and right) and the X legendary is grounded. Y is vertical (up and down) and it's legendary can fly, is there some relation there?

Am I missing something here ? Or can't you use the move deleter, the old guy usually in the last gym leader town to get rid off HM's?

@Skimoman: Yes, you can do that. But not in 1st Gen, you need to trade with 2nd Gen to use the Move Deleter, and then send it back. But that's not the point. Haven't you ever learned a new move for your Pokémon with an HM move, only to replace a move you want to keep to learn it? It's annoying. Also, Cut trees are annoying, Strength boulders is annoying. Even Fly is annoying most of the time. There's no reason you can't forget an HM move anytime, for reasons I've already mentioned. The point is that the Move Deleter is just a really strange solution when a better an easier solution could be done.

Back when Pokemon was so big thing that it even aired on Finnish TV which was unusually since it is an anime show. After a while they censored all the advertisement from certain episode forward. Not to mention episodes they aired back then was dubbed to Finnish and probably helped me to understand why dubs are so bad.

They should just allow pokemon that could learn a HM move, to automatically be able to do that HM move...

For example, when your charmeleon evolves into charizard, you can then Fly to wherever...

Own a Blastoise, surf your way to happiness...

Have electric pokemon ? Flash your way through dark caves..

Large / Heavy / Powerfull pokemon , push boulders aside no problem...

you get the idea :D

In Pokemon Ruby's pokedex entry for Swampert it explicitly says "it has enough Strength to move boulders" So in hindsight some Pokemon SHOULD be able to do HM moves innately. (Poor Scyther xD)

well yea, but there would need to be some kind of restriction.

Example..

A Poliwag is unlikely to have the power to surf you across an ocean, even though it can swim, just like a Igglybuff could never push a boulder , or a Pidgey would barley be able to lift of the ground with a trainer on its back ( if the trainer could even fit on it).

but if you ironed out the system alittle and perfected the restrictions, like weight / height restrictions for things like surf fly strength ect..

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
