On the argument of "Stop Having Fun" Guys vs. "Stop Telling Me What to Do" Guys, I want to put in my input. IT doesn't matter what side we are on, or how we train our pokemon. Think of this as if we were in the game itself. There are tons of different kinds of pokemon trainers in the world. Some prefer to spend their time breeding, some prefer to fill up the pokedex, some prefer to train to become the strongest, and some prefer to just travel with their friends. We all belong to one of these (or maybe different) groups, but we share a common group; Fans. We are all fans and players of the pokemon franchise, that is why we are here. I started the Pokemon Corner to bring pokemon players together from all walks of life to build a small community of friends, and that is what we have done for the most part.

Calling someone a "Stop Having Fun Guy" is just as bad as someone asking why you haven't raised your pokemon a certain way. We also have to remember that he wasn't telling you how to raise your pokemon as much as he was just asking why you chose the way you did. Instead of taking offence to his question, take that chance to show the community why it is you chose to raise your pokemon that way, and possibly even enlighten people to why it could work. Who knows, you could have just sold a special attack Torterra build to the community, and you would be known as the inventor. My point here is, and this is directed towards all of Pokemon Corner, don't take things personally. See every situation as a chance to teach and show kindness. The world gets better every time you take a dark situation and create light within it.

A Special Attack Torterra sounds like a good idea to me. Torterra has a lot of moves that use Sp. Attack but his Sp. Attack is lacking when compared to his Attack. One could simply stick with a moveset that relies on Attack, or you could increase your Sp. Attack to make use of the fact that Torterra's Attack will already raise itself higher without even touching it. I actually do this whenever I can. I increase the stats that are low and allow that higher stats to grow at their own pace.

To me, it seems like the Routes themselves are just far shorter than they have been in previous games.  I mean, Route 7 was fairly long, but nowhere near as long as some of the other routes in previous titles (like say Route 20 in Kanto or Route 133 in Hoenn).  some of the other Routes also seem to be little more than 3 patches of grass and two trainers to fight.  It seems like just walking from one town to the next is a matter of mere seconds instead of half-minutes.  I'm not even sure I'd need Fly in this game yet.

I ran all the way (this is running, not using the skates) from Route 8 back to the first town I started in.  Not counting load times for screens, it took me only something like 30 seconds.

I don't know, the whole game just seems a lot smaller to me.  Even only half of Lumiose City didn't seem that large when I was there last.  I know I don't have access to the North section yet, but just the stuff they gave me wasn't a whole lot.  Sure, it's a bit bigger than most of the cities in previous titles...  It's just that it doesn't seem all that large to begin with.

Oh well, maybe once I get my second Gym Badge and begin moving forward in the storyline again.  Apparently, they want me to go collect a fossil from some cave on Route 9 before ever going through the second half of Route 8 to get to the town with a Gym.  I'm almost out of freakin' Pokeballs too.  There really needs to be a lot more trainers on these Routes to give me cash.  This is the first time in the series I've run out of cash before catching everything.  Somewhat frustrating...
To me, I agree in the sense that the journey pre-elite four is horrible in X and Y. Well, it's okay... but relative to the other pokemon games, I find it awful.

X and Y causes a real kiddy interaction between not one, not two, but four rivals! It's almost like a reiteration of black. Despite this game being meant for small children, I really wanted to see a reduction in that kind of thing, not an increase in it!

I also happened to find the world quite a bore. It seems that they've worked on reducing the linearity from black and white, but no... you actually go in one big circle! I thought the best ever region design was with Sinnoh and johto following close second.

Lumiose City's gigantic size just annoyed me. I find that I have to speak to everyone when I play a pokemon game and this was such a chore to do, especially with those camera angles! I hate everything Lumiose. For me, it's the worst town/city in any pokemon game.

The team seems to also be even worse in this game.

At how Lysandre just suddenly announces he's going to kill everyone. It's so annoyingly abrupt. At how that one Team Flare member goes 'Oh no! You're going to find that key that I dropped 9 spaces to the left of me!' LIKE, SERIOUSLY!?
I know, this is supposed to be a kids game, but comparing this game to all the others, I really think they could have done better. In Diamond/pearl/platinum, they had earthquakes with a whole lake being blown up and an amazing dark distortion world. In Ruby/Sapphire you had 2 legendaries battling it out in the middle of a massive city, but you haven't got much in this game.

Desptie, that negativity towards it, I think the mechanics are amazing! I didn't like super training at first, but now I absolutely love it. It makes EV training go oh so fast. The new breeding mechanics too are awesome! Pokemon amie is also kind of fun (though it's even more fun to look at what people post on tumblr about it).

Raising and testing out different pokemon combos has become a lot easier, especially when it comes to breeding!

I think the idea of splitting the pokedex into 3 categories was great too! It really did motivate me to complete each one individually at a time rather than filling in one chunky list.

I've replayed the other pokemon games dozens of times, but for X, I'm probably never going to restart it.

The problem is though... I shouldn't have to halt my journey like that to grind some cash in order to just buy some Great Balls.  I've never run out of Pokeballs or cash so quickly before and I'm finding it somewhat frustrating!  By this many hours in the game, I'm usually rocking something like $100,000 even after buying balls to catch every mon along the way.  In this game, having bought absolutely NOTHING except balls to catch mons, I'm broke somewhere on Route 8/9 before ever hitting the second gym.  It's kind of poor game design, to be honest.  Backtracking in a game is not really something a game designer should be having the player do... unless it's important or useful to do so.  Backtracking to the Berry patches was useful.  Backtracking to the Moss/Ice Stone was useful.  Backtracking to use your HMs was useful.  Backtracking to use the Daycare was useful.  Backtracking to catch mons you missed because the game designers neglected to give you enough trainers to fight...  That's poor game design.

And yet, despite this huge glaring flaw, I am still actually enjoying my playthrough of the game.  I ditched out a bunch of my mons at noon today because they hit their final evolutions and I didn't want them as part of my final team.  I finally added in the sword thing to my party, and it's at level 18.  I got a bunch of other mons in my party I'm trying to evolve as well.  One of them is that silly Pancham, but I'm starting to think it doesn't evolve until 30 or something like that.

I think I'll take a light break from the games this week though, I have some Minecraft and Hand of Kul to catch up on.  I think Battlefield 4 also comes out sometime this week as well.  I might be busy with all of that for a while.

As for Hyde...

I would have actually accepted it as someone simply asking me a question if I hadn't answered it pages ago and had a discussion about it with several people at the time.  After explaining it once before and getting the question again and answering it again, someone gave me a response of "but it has higher Attack!".  Surely you can see how any normal person would have read that as being picked on by the "Stop Having Fun" guys crowd.

@Tai_MT: Here's a nifty thing I found out. How many steps have you taken in Luminouse City? There's a man in the Pokemon Center that'll give you items for the amount of steps you've taken. I have 3,400 approx and that netted me 29 Ultra Balls, NO money spent!~

@Tai: Pancham evos at level 30 with a dark type in your team. ;)

So...I'm starting my Wonderlocke. Trading five route 2 pokemon over wonder trade then Nuzlocking. After that it's a normal Nuzlocke.

I didn't have any money issues and I caught pretty much every Pokemon in each route (missing out on only a handful). I haven't customized my character at all because those systems don't really interest me. I still haven't even touched Pokemon Amie after 65 hours of gameplay - I have no idea what it even is. I forgot it even existed since I never scrolled through the touch screen system and kept it on my Super Training screen for 3/4 of the game.

I'm gonna try my hand at chaining to get a shiny but I don't know which shiny I want yet. So far, I'm thinking of shiny Flygon, Ursaring, Zangoose, or Nidoking.

I think chaining only works for fishing, or at least that is what I gathered from the whole deal.

And I too had, and have, no problem gathering money right now. I have 99 ultra balls, plus enough to customize how I want. Admittedly, we dont get as much money as we did in previous games, but that is a plus in my mind. I always thought it was rather stupid that I could buy hundreds of the best pokeballs, hundreds of revives, and still have enough money to drop on full restores and EV Vitamins. Money management in the series has been ridiculously non-existent up to this point, and it still isnt that bad. BUT, the biggest problem I am seeing for you is that you are judging the game's features based on pre-second badge. Go further into the game and you will see that we do find a couple bigger routes, more money makers, better pokemon, and better story (even though I find team Flare to be stupid as hell).

While I am on this topic, I do want to complain about Team Flare.

WTF... What... the... f*ck? Never have we gotten such psychopaths in the pokemon series. IF you really look into it and forget that they look ridiculous as hell, these guys are like the serial killers in horror movies. They want a utopia for beautiful and fashionable people. They plan on pretty much getting rid of everyone on the planet and only leaving Team Flare members. Getting... rid... of... everyone! Yes, gen four introduced the pokemon god, gen six introduced genocide. They sound, act, and look stupid, but when you really put thought into their plans, they literally plan on exterminating people who are not beautiful (or at least this is what I have gathered, but I am only 7 badges in). I really wish these guys didn't look so bad. If their costumes and overall theme wasnt so ridiculous, they would actually be threatening compared to other evil teams. Rocket wanted your pokemon; Magma and Aqua wanted more land/water on earth; Galactic wanted to get rid of corruption (even if it was by being corrupt themselves); Plasma wanted to liberate pokemon from bad trainers (even though the real reason was to leave their leader as the ruler of the world). Up to this point, most teams literally wanted what they thought was the right thing to do, but just went about it in a horrible way. But Flare literally thinks you don't deserve to be on the planet if you are not beautiful.
ANYWAYS, rant done, let's move on. Seacliff, were you meaning Spiritomb? He is still overpowered in a way. He isn't a bad pokemon to run with, even with his new weakness. The new fairy type just means you have to be a bit more careful with him, that is all.

Both fishing chaining and the old method work in X and Y. Also, funnily enough, this is the first Pokemon game where I haven't had money issues. (well except for when it comes to buying clothes)

Edit: also seacliff meant WONDERTOMB, ie the concept of a spiritomb with wonderguard, a concept broken by this the fairy type (also i believe wondertomb was previously killable via toxic, weather, entry hazards, etc.) (also the actual spiritomb had such crap stats that having no weaknesses barely helped it lol)

Anyone seem that movie..Elysium or whatever? Team Flare are those people, rich fellows who feel that getting rid of the scum that make the world ugly are the only way to live a happy life. They're idealists. I actually loved them, since they have such a unique and mature nature about them, and I can relate (not the whole killing everyone...but I am an idealist). They are one of favorite teams...and had more logic behind their actions...I only wish they were expanded on. (C'mon Pokemon Z!) Although I loved Team Magma, Rocket, and Aqua (I still don't exactly get Cyrus...), they weren't really the pinnacle of interesting or note-worthy ideals. Of course Pokemon Black & White based their villains on truth and ideals, but Ghetis just shat on the cool story...I think Pokemon is going the right way with Flare...minus the tiny amount of screen time (WHY YOU DITCH AZ?).

On another note, The WonderLocke is the same as the Nuzlocke, except each Pokemon caught is immediately WonderTraded. :p It seemed fun, and the comic's story really benefits from the rule.

EDIT: Yes, Wondertomb is the keystone to success.

I really didn't know you could get Spiritomb with that ability... I want it...

And Dont get me wrong, I did like the idea behind team Flare. But they should have looked better. For a team that wants the world to be beautiful, they look weird as hell with their all red outfits and odd hairstyles. Not to mention the Daft Punk-esque admins that they have, lol.

On note of Cyrus, he has got to be my favorite leader so far. He gives me chills. Think of this... here you have a man who has been so mentally scarred in life that he only sees weakness in mankind and truly believes that mankind should be ruled over instead of having their own freedom. He believes that the world must be started over in his own image in order for it to go on. While his story doesn't get looked into normally much past his job as Galactic Leader, it is the small little things about his backstory that made my spine tingle. What happened to this man during his childhood? How much abuse did he suffer to become the way he was? Cyrus is a tortured soul, through and through. On the surface, he doesn't seem like much, but he is an incredibly deep character.

The thing is though...  I never had this much issue so early in the game.    We're talking maybe a 20-25 trainers up to this point with a grand total of over 100 dex entries so far for me, and I'm out of money to buy more Great Balls.  I still have Route 9 to finish off as well as the cave.  Not to mention the two bird swarms on Route 8 I haven't picked up yet.  I've got maybe 3 Great Balls on me and about 32 pokeyen to my name.  It's a bit ridiculous.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
