See, the problem is that Nintendo truly believes that the things that made them the heads of the market way back in the day is what will keep them there, but it isn't true. Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon gave them HUGE advantages over the competition when they came out, but that was mostly because Nintendo was a common name at the time and other companies were just getting revved up. Nintendo has been constantly losing steam since the gamecube simply because they refuse to push forward into the new generation of games. They want to hold on to their old game franchises dearly, but they expect the same success. Now, they have Microsoft and Playstation to compete with, both of which are not afraid to go in new directions and take chances.

What needs to happen is Nintendo needs a huge management shift. First big thing they need to tackle is multiplayer. Sure, local multiplayer has been a staple of gaming for a long time, and Nintendo was one of the pioneers of local multiplayer. However, we are in the age of connection and Nintendo won't change. Their 'Friend Code' **** is outdated, and was already outdated when they first thought of it. Both major competitors provide top of the line multiplayer experiences that connect millions of players at the drop of a dime while Nintendo still makes me need to find friends in a way that makes no sense to me. They say that they are all about bringing players together to make new friends, but how am I supposed to do that when I either need their friend code in advance, or I need to trade pokemon with them multiple times to be asked if I want to register them?

On that note, this is related, but off topic so I am putting it in spoilers. Why is it when you trade pokemon, there is still no way to communicate? Seriously... Want to trade with a random player? Good luck. You will have to sit through ten minutes of them picking out random pokemon from their boxes to show you, then decline any of your offers. Why couldn't there be a chat thing so that we could actually understand wtf is going on? Or maybe even an emoticon system. I wouldn't mind having a smile face to use when I like a pokemon they offer. Also, if I pick a pokemon and hit offer, why can I not cancel my decision unless the other person cancels trading? Trading in X and Y is very primitive...
Then we have Nintendo's game development strategy. Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, Single Random Non-Franchise Game that will Bomb... That is pretty much a year in the life of Nintendo developers. They are so focused on putting out new installments of their most popular franchises as quickly as possible that they give little effort to any other projects, meaning the market gets flooded with pokemon and mario. Pokemon is alright for me to see a lot of cause I am a huge fan, but even I get a little tired when I start seeing crap like a pokemon typing game, or a $20+ pokedex app, or pokemon puzzle games, or pokemon mystery games. Mind you, these would be alright if the fans called for them, but the fans don't even buy most of these. Yet, fans have begged for a new Pokemon Stadium, or pokemon Snap, or ,god forbid, remakes of Gen III for years now and have been very much ignored.

Finally, their business strategies are off the wall, bat-**** crazy. Gamecube gets bad reviews for the overall design (aesthetic design, not software) and starts selling lower than its competitor. What does nintendo do next? One would think they would play it safe and not go too far out of the box on their next attempt. NOPE, complete opposite. Out comes the Xbox 360 which starts dominating the market because of its appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers. Then 'Tendo pops out the Wii, which while it is very innovative, it appeals to ONLY casual gamers. In a world where the hardcore gaming market is skyrocketing, you would think Nintendo would find a way to bring these gamers over to their side? NOPE. The Wii moves forward with very few worthwhile games that were quickly lost in the horrible flood of ****ty motion control games with no core gameplay past being able to move things with your wiimote. So with a system whose sales are steadily falling behind in the console wars, you would think Nintendo would quickly choose to go a different route with their next console, right? NOPE NOPE NOPE! The Wii U... replaced the Wiimote with a dumbed down DS and gave us an extremely underwhelming number of launch titles, most of which were either done better on other systems or were so mediocre that none of us remember them. But wait, there's more! The DS evolution was even worse.

So you find yourself at the beginning of the DS having just paid for this awesome new handheld like none other! You love it, but it is very bulky, also has a rather small screen and not the best backlight. Boom, price goes down in a few months and a new version comes out with everything fixed and upgraded. The money you just spent was for naught, but you decide to trade in for the new one. You spent your money, now paying full price twice, and you are happy playing your games. You open up a gaming magazine and boom, you read that a new version is coming out, this one having huge upgrades and a working camera. You upgrade again, only to see a sign on the way home saying that the new XL DSi will be out tomorrow. You head back to the store to learn that the XL DSi is already obsolete even though it came out this morning and that the 3DS will be out in forty minutes. You reach for a 3DS only to be met with laughs as the people around giggle at the fact you would buy such a primitive piece of gaming history and ask why you aren't buying the 3DS XL that came out five minutes ago. You run out of the store in shock and confusion. On the drive home, you see electronic signs flashing like strobes with announcements of new models coming out almost every other hour. Okay, you know where I am going with this story, lol. Point is, the evolution of the DS was ridiculous in terms of how many of them they release. They put out a new model almost every year so that they can continue to charge us $200 for absolutely nothing new.

Okay, I have got to get off the Nintendo conversation, they just anger me.
Not to anger you further, but this is why im very afraid that pokemon Z (or what ever it will be).....might be a wii U console game...Nintendo is in a hard way right now, with the wiiU sales being crap...soooo...I JUST FEELZ IT!....the end is coming.

The amounts of millions Nintendo have lost due to the DS and Wii U being so horrible is phenomenal, the Wii U more so. I do agree with Hyde, Nintendo needs some sort of new management otherwise it will be the end. It's like Nintendo don't know how to make 'games' anymore. Seriously how can they have release games of some 'Mii' based game or ports? It's quite ridiculous... If Nintendo can at least try to aim for an older demographic like the majority of their fans, maybe they can still be salvageable.

I honestly doubt this, Pokemon had always had there main titles on handhelds, X and Y are the fastest selling games of all time, selling more than the Wii U itself in two days. And no one will by a new $300 console for a game similar to what they already have.

I feel this way too, it seems Nintendo takes a game, makes slight changes to it, and call it a new game. Only series I don't feel they do this a lot to is Fire Emblem (Besides Radiant Dawn) and Smash Brothers (Maybe Melee though).

I also think they are at least doing SOMETHING with Hyrule Warriors as well, Nintendo crossovers tend to be good because they are at least different. Though Unique != good, it seems Nintendo is just too afraid to take risks.

You guys do realize that Nintendo has so much money in the bank, they could have last years losses every year for the next half century or so before actually going bankrupt.

Seriously, Nintendo just has such a mass of capital backed up that I wouldn't worry about "the end" any time soon. And unlike Sony or Microsoft, they don't have any other real product market they are involved in, so I don't see them really backing out of video games.

I don't see them leaving within the century either. In fact, there's still a good bit of Nintendo games nowadays I really like, but they seem to forget they aren't the only cool people around. (Just IMO)

So... I basically changed the subject of this entire topic from Pokémon to "Is Nintendo really poorly managed and moronic?", ha ha.  The power of a single man!  I am the unstoppable force, because I wield the immovable object!

So, does anyone know when Pokémon Bank is actually supposed to reach US and UK markets?  If it's not for a while, I thought about going through some of my other games and completing the dexes in those while I wait.  I still have to even play several of my double copies of games.  I also need to save up for a second 3DS if I wish to do some trading without worrying about being robbed of my pokes or items.

Oh, I have a Modest Abra.  The problem?  Yeah, it's in my Heart Gold Version.  Does you little good there, does it?  Ha ha.  Just makes you wish Pokémon Bank was out more, doesn't it?  The slow burn...

I'm not taunting you.  Nintendo is taunting you.  Abra could've been yours for the low low price of Pokémon Bank being out.  Ha ha.  I'm just rubbing it in!

I would say New Shiny Whishmur, but shiny new works too, lol.  :p

EDIT: So, I am testing out a new team I am putting together. I am testing it out on Pokemon Showdown first so that I can get a feel for how I should build the team. But the team is specifically meant to be competitive, unlike my last team which was half and half. What started as a gimmick team has slowly built into a powerhouse of pokemon that can wreck. And guess what? It completely bypasses the typical pokemon you see on every comp team right now (no Aegislash, no Azumarill, no Kangaskhan, no Talonflame, and no Blaziken). I would like to present my new team.

Mega-Charizard Y - Special Sweeper, Sun Setter

Venusaur - Special Support and a bit of offense

Blastoise - Defensive Spinner

Chesnaught - Spiky Shield Wall

Greninja - Special Attacker, Wall Breaker

Infernape - All out Physical Force

Like I said this started as a gimmick. I now, thanks to wonder trade, have all 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 6th gen starters, and I wanted to use a bunch of them in a team together. AS i started figuring out which ones would work with others, I slowly found that some of them work really well together. After chatting with a smogon mentor for some opinions, this is the team we came up with.

Now, I am currently running it through tests.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-83378658

That is the latest replay in action. However, if you are a comp player yourself, don't make fun of my mistakes there too bad, I was having some brain farts when thinking my moves through a couple times. I shouldn't have lost a couple of my pokemon as easily as I did.

Anyways, any thoughts on this team?

It's not bad at all...though I still think that the starters are quite underpowered compared to other monsters. I honestly haven't seen an Infernape in forever.

You would be surprised actually with this gen. Every one I used are OU. Not to mention Greninja, Venusaur, and Infernape are some of the most used pokemon in the current metagame (even though Venusaur in the metagame tends to be a variant of mine, but with a mega stone instead). This gen really buffed the starters. However, 2nd gen and 4th gen starters (minus Ape) still didn't get much love. Even sadder, the 2nd gen starters are barely even lower tiered RU (Rarely Used) Pokemon. I feel bad for Typhlosion and Feraligatr, they are so lonely. I wish Gamefreak would give them a boost, maybe even megas, so that they would get used more in comp battles. I feel they were some of the best designed starters artistically, but they just got absolutely no love past that.

Anyways, closer look at my setup now that it is completed.

Five matches, finally hit a loss on the sixth (Showdown Still). To be fair though, they were packing Landorus-T, Deoxys-N (which has been banned to Uber now, so not sure why he was in an OU match), Azumarill, Mega-Zard Y, and so on. I tried to hold my own, but Deoxys crushed my synergy badly. Crazy good trainer though, I give him major props. He knew exactly what he was doing and wiped the floor with me. Well, just makes me want to get batter at comp battling.

I would like to see gamefreak do a little something different with the starters in the next gen. Like maybe letting you choose from starters that were other than the usual grass, water, fire type. Like maybe, Dark, Psychic, fighting type. Something like that.

But Dark is immune to Psychic?

The only trio I know that works and doesn't include any of the original 3 types is Rock Flying Fighting but then you have the issue of the Flying type (which is almost exclusively a secondary type), we were given a primary Flying type in Gen 6 and a mono-flying type in Gen 5, but they so far are the exception to how Flying is handled.

I can think of other triangles. Dark>Psychic>Fighting

Or, not really a triangle but would be a cool combo... Steel>Fairy>Dragon/Fire

Rock>Flying>Fighting

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
