Electric, Water, Ground?

I honestly don't mind the same Grass, Water, Fire typings for starters each game.  What I tend to have issues with is the secondary typing on most of these.  For the longest time, we had "Fire/Fighting" as a type.  Seriously.  In X and Y, it's probably the most unique to date.  Especially since we gain secondary typings of Psychic, Dark, and Fighting with them.

It's nice to see some interesting typings with the starters for their secondaries instead of the straight up types we're used to.  No, I don't even mind waiting until their third evolution to get the second element type.  Though, it might also help if we got away from the default monster types as well.  How many Frog Pokémon do we have now?  How many monkeys?  How many snakes?  How many cats?  How many Pokémon that are merely rocks you find on the ground?  We could use a LITTLE more imagination.  Especially since there are about a bajillion real life creatures they could actually draw inspiration from.

We have three frog pokemon, I believe. The other one is definitely a toad. And they're different kinds of frogs. I think it would be interesting if they pulled some monster ideas out of mythology! I realize we have legendaries and physic/ghost pokemon like this...but starters based off mythology would be cool. Still waiting for a badass serpent...I don't want a lame seviper or okay-gyrados...I want a REAL serpent. (like a Dragonair-like one...but not a dragonair)

It seems Game Freak locked themselves into a pattern when making new Pokemon and unfortunately most of it is generic form of "this" and "Pikachu incarnate". I kind of wish they would break their formula pretty much altogether. notice how the best or overall favourite Pokemon don't stick with the formula bar the Pseudo Legendaries.

Come on Nintendo. When the flip is Pokémon Bank going to be released!? Can you at least throw us a stinking BONE, for crap's sake!? >:(

Japan got it over a week ago. It's been plenty long to ensure that nothing bad will happen. GIVE IT TO US. NOW!!

If there is no word on its release within the next week, I say we band together and storm Nintendo's corporate headquarters with torches and pitchforks. And banners with Celebi on them... :(

I mean seriously, who is running this shoddy operation? Do they really think it's good PR to not give us any information at all?

EDIT: Bad thought. Maybe they're waiting until the Japanese trial period expires (Feb. 21st)... NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! ;_;

By one day, too, it ended on the 2nd.

So... uh... Lucario is confirmed for the next smash brothers: http://www.smashbros.com/us/characters/lucario.html

I would say "Well, that doesn't mean they AREN'T adding Mewtwo," but I don't want an overload of clone characters.

Am I really the only one who thought Blaziken would be the perfect choice for Smash Bros this time around? Not a clone of Lucario or Mewtwo, but completely unique. He would use things like Blaze Kick and Sky Uppercut for close melee moves, flamethrower and such for long range attacks, and then for his final attack (forgot the technical name), he could turn into his Mega Evolution for a certain amount of time and have super boosted stats (hit harder, move faster). I would also accept him having a different ultimate move where he calls in a herd of running torchic that do massive damage as they run across the screen, but this is just because I want to see a **** ton of torchic own their enemies, lol.

If not Blaziken, maybe Greninja. Him being the pokemon version of a Ninja would make for a great fighter. But on that note, why note all three starters from Kalos? All three would play completely different, but each would make amazing fighters. Maybe set it up like pokemon trainer and have each one interchangeable.

EDIT: BTW, I made something for you guys.

http://www.mediafire.com/view/rbq06sfh8v1k6kw/Friend_Safari_Checklist.xlsx

It is a pre-made safari checklist so you guys can take a look at the possible combinations while also being able to mark off what you have already (in terms of what people provide you via friend codes. I made it because I am getting so many requests to trade people high IVed friend safari pokemon (mainly Ditto of course, lol) and I wanted a way to keep track of what zones I had and which ones I still needed.

To use it, you will need something to open an Excel project. Microsoft Excel of course would be the best way to view it, but it is also able to be opened and viewed in Open Office Spreadsheet and Google Documents via uploading. The main reason to use it is to keep track of what safari zones you have currently, in which I made it easy to check off which pokemon you can get via a checkbox for each one. However, I also use my checklist to show people what I have in a trade shop I have on another site, but this requires google documents.

To do this, go to google Drive (https://drive.google.com) and click the upload button next to the create button. Upload the file I provided from Mediafire. Then, right click that uploaded file and hit "Open With >> Sheets". Boom, you now have a nice update-able file that you can then share with the public. Boom!

Also, if anyone needs a pokemon for their pokedex, let me know...

No, you absolutely can see them elsewhere. The point of my list is to give someone a checklist for if they are planning on collecting friend safaris like I am. Like look here...

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ahr8FV8PcN5edF81MGw2d0x3SW1jUkVMbzBSSkQ1NlE&usp=drive_web#gid=0

That is my checklist. I used it to 1. Keep track of what I have and what I need still, and 2. Show people what I have instead of listing every one multiple times for people who want to trade me. You would be surprised how many people on forums like Smogon will trade for high IV safari pokemon. If you have a lot of safaris, you have a decent chance at getting some good trades, trust me.

However, understood this isnt for everyone. I just wanted to share it in case I wasn't the only one collecting safari codes.

I was just curious as to the point of it.  I mean, I know I'm not at the Safari Zone yet (though I should be with these levels), but it seemed weird to me to keep a list of who had what and what spawned in each area.  I mean, I know I have the Ice Type thing...  But, everything in that Safari Area can be captured within the game itself long before that point, or bred better later.

Actually...  If you can collect everything in the friend safari long before then, what is the point of the safari in the first place?  Is it just to collect mons with different Abilities?

Oh no, the safari serves a purpose, i promise. Some pokemon can either only be found there, or allow you to find pokemon exclusive to the other version (swirlix/spritzee, pupitar/lairon, etc). Then, every pokemon you find has at least one stat with perfect IV (31). THEN, each pokemon has the chance of having their hidden ability, which very often is much better than normal abilities. Not to mention all Kalos and Kanto starters are possible safari pokemon. As far as I am concerned, some starters aren't worth crap in my book without their hidden ability (try out a Froakie with Protean over his normal ability and you will know what I mean).

In other words, the safari zone is still useful when you get to the end, but it is even more useful if you want to take your team to the next level in terms of power. If you are happy with how your team is, then you may not care for the safari at all, admittedly.

I guess that's useful to an extent...  I'm more of a PvE kind of guy though, so IVs and EVs and Abilities don't matter that much to me.  If Pokémon ever went full PvP, I'd probably quit playing the games as I have no interest in turning a game I enjoy into pure number crunching for the sake (or chance at) a win.

That being said...

I do enjoy some of the Abilities on some of the Pokémon.  When we had the Dream World mons of Black and White, most of their "Hidden Abilities" were rather...  Well... Subpar and without much use.  Some of the abilities in these new games look interesting enough.

Admittedly, I'd care a lot more about Abilities if there were ways to breed abilities from other mons onto your favorite mons.  One ability I absolutely loved?  Flash Fire on my Ninetails.  Made him immune to all Fire Damage and gave him a hefty boost to Fire Attacks for the duration.  It's probably one of the least useful abilities to most trainers, but I enjoyed it.  I would love to breed things like Drought onto Grass Types (or other moves that result in perpetual sunshine in battle) in order to cast Solarbeam forever without end or charge up times.  Oh well, maybe next gen will let us breed abilities onto other mons that wouldn't normally have them (like they currently do with Attacks).

That is an amazing combo, trust me. I count the times I have won PVP battles with him alone. Give him some other coverage moves, then Solarbeam and Fire Blast... boom, complete wrecking ball. His speed is godlike and he has just enough bulk to survive at least one good hit from most major players, so you can pretty much kill anything you want. I haven't used M-Zard X yet, so not sure how strong he is, but you can tell Zard-Y got some major favor from Nintendo.

EDIT

Okay, so I started a battle today on showdown. Person has a pretty intimidating team, let me say that.

We start the battle and I begin working my way through his pokemon. I messed up with Chesnaught, but overall do really well with Greninja. About to seal the deal and then the player leaves me a message saying I am pulling cheap **** and then just left the battle. I am confused as hell... being a nice guy (or at least I like to think I am a nice guy), I apologized to him for making him mad, but then asked what it was I did to be cheap. Didn't really get an answer. I am guessing he is just being a sore loser here, but do you guys think Greninja is a cheap way out?

Here is the battle...

I know that M-Zard X is physical based rather than special. Though it's finally acquired Dragon typing it's quite redundant due to the existence of Fairy types :/ But I do prefer Zard Y, I like speedy Pokemon with a slight preference in special attackers~

Is there a good way to motivate yourself into playing Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald?  I've finished, I think Ruby... But, the internal batteries have run dry on all three games, so I dunno if I can even catch the Legendaries from these games or not.  If I can't, I may just ignore it and forget about it.

Though, I wouldn't be adverse to a remake of these three games?  I'd certainly buy them again for the 3DS.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
