Hey guys I'm having trouble with some coding for a really simple plugin, I've been poking around for the correct java phrasing's but nothings working so far. So basically what I'm trying to do is set up a plugin that allows for the a select number of characters in a party as view able(lets say 6), with everyone else in the party completely hidden an inacessible outside of the party switching menu I have in place.

At the moment I was using these lines, as a means to do that. It pretty much set, the viewable party, to the number of active battlers. But now I'm wanting it to exist independently.

Window_MenuStatus.prototype.maxItems = function() {
    return $gameParty.maxBattleMembers();
};

Someone wrote this code out for me some time ago, so I'm I'm trying to figure out how to read it, in order to alter it. Can anyone help me out, as to define the "prototype.maxItems" and how that relates focusing on the party members? My assumption is that the code basically reads "Max part members is = to max battle members." So what I'm trying to learn is how to make it read "Max party members = X value" Similar to pokemon, where they can have 6 party members, but 1-3 battle members.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
