Oh, thanks for all the feedback!

@Necrox: Aighty, and yea that's the kind of feeling I'm going for in the song, also I will prolly adjust the singing a bit to better match, because I noticed it too after you two pointed it out.

@Rondchild: Thanks, and that's good to hear! The boss theme is meant to just be something that happens to be there in the background, instead of something that distracts from the fight or the enemy, is the reason I made it so downtempo, but most all of my other bosses will likely be hard hitting!

@Kaimen: Thanks for all the feedback! As said above, I'm def gonna edit the vocals a bit because it became noticeable after it got pointed out. I may look to see if I have anything else that fits with Rotary any better, and yea I can see Rotund being better around there for just an opening cutscene, I'll prolly just make an edited version for the title screen itself. I'll do those when I get home later today, thanks for feedback! And as for your song, I really like the feeling it has, definitely an great song to start to. Very mellow, and has a feeling of 'leading', if that makes sense, as if it's the start to something even more. Although it's all ruined by that end chord 0/10 no go

@Reposer Rotary isn't really my sort of thing but the synth you added at 1:47 was a cool twist. Rotund is really nice; I agree with the temple imagery already mentioned. It has a nice dreamy vibe.

@Kaimen That is a nice piece; it could be on the OST for the anime Another.

@Necrox: Thanks for the comments! Yea Rotary is a sort of weird one anyways, mostly practice because the times I've made any sort of hip-hop type of sound it's not gone too well, so wanted to get a bit of practice in on it! And yea out of the two, I definitely like Rotund more, but I like the feel it has, plus it was a lot more to actually make in comparison.

Here are the two updated things, in Rotary, I've swapped around the drums, and these ones (at least to me) feel like they fit a bit better, but let me know what you guys think!

And for Final Boss, I've changed a decent few things, at least compared to last change. I made the "Ooh" vocals during the first stringset only reverbed now, added reverb to most the other ones that didn't have that going on for it already, added some more to the bass and strings to give them a bit more oomph, and also made a new cover for it, although unrelated in the musical sense :p

@Reposer The new drums make Rotary sound better. I like the scratches and little reverses. The Final Boss theme definitely sounds better too. The enhanced strings and bass give the more intense parts more intensity.

Here's something that's been up forever in "Private" >.<

Just post the link for the song, it auto-embeds itself!

EDIT: Awesome! I like the name and the ambiance to it, it sounds pretty awesome. I like the mechanical sounds throughout it, and it could work awesomely as something for, well, a factory, maybe abandoned or the sort, with the creepy vibe to it. All in all, it's pretty nice!

@Archduke That is a very nice theme. It could work as a dungeon theme, but I think it would be a gorgeous town theme. That background synth that comes in at 2:31 is beautiful. Great work! I'll give you a like and a follow on Soundcloud.

Just popping in while I have some time to give some feedback/critique for the stuff on this page:

Reposer:

Rotary: This is quite a relaxed track, it builds a very urban feel which is something a lot of rm games lack, so good job on that front.  If I were to suggest any changes (assuming you want to keep working on the track) it would be to add in a third section before returning to what feels like the 'chorus' of the piece.  I would also add more variation to said chorus so as to keep it fresh sounding.  Adding a third type of sound into the third section and using it to bolster the chorus in it's 2nd variation would be my recommendation.

Final Boss Rework: I think my critique is a bit more based on personal preferences for the most part this time.  Whilst I feel this track would work well as a character theme, I feel it lacks the intensity to be a boss theme.  My suggestion would be to make some the beginning parts more frantic and then use sections like at 2:06 as a refrain.  Other than that, try experimenting with the following: counterpoint melodies, adding more driving parts to the rhythm, add bigger hits like cymbals to key parts, add pulsing staccato pedal notes from time to time to create the illusion of speed.

Necrox:

Stop hacking and protect the factory: A very curious track you have here, I like the alien atmosphere it creates.  It feels like the length is unnecessary though and I would cut out a pretty hefty chunk of it so that you can get to the part at 3:35 a bit quicker.  That part feels like a highlight of the piece and if you take too long to get there without anything else going on the listener might lose interest.  I would also add just a few more layers to that part before slowly stripping them away in order to allow for looping.

Archduke:

Tainted Chambers: Definitely sounds more like it leans toward a town theme than a dungeon theme but I do still feel it could fit as a dungeon theme for a water sanctuary or temple of some kind. It would work for more of a mysterious area than an oppressive one basically.  I really like the clarinet in this, it sounds very elegant and the development/progression of the piece is very well structured and tugs at all the right emotions.  I think my only suggestion would be to see how well a low bass sustained string or wind part would work. I feel you might be able to make it sound more dungeon-like even with your current arrangement if you find a way to give the low part enough space in what you currently have or give it it's own moment to shine in relative isolation.

@Archduke: I really like that, I do feel like it works just fine as a temple theme, I guess I could see where it would work for a town, though. Although I can already imagine a setting where that would fit perfectly for a dungeon/temple, and I feel like you could make that work with whatever you're doing quite nicely.

@Scythus: Thanks for the feedback on them, for Final Boss, I do understand what you mean, and that's a part of the stuff that I'm gonna be doing with most of my other boss themes, but I just felt like the final boss should be something of grandeur. In that thought process, I feel as if the music should be closer to an epic than something hard hitting, so that it gives the boss fight itself more feeling. But for both of us, it basically comes down to just personal preference, and I 100% see the merit in doing something big and rhythmic for the final boss, but this is just what I felt would fit, in personal opinion. And onto Rotary, I have done an extension, and it ended up being a beast in length, I literally doubled it, and didn't realize until after I got it on soundcloud XD I also had to master the original, after realizing I'd forgotten to do so. Anywhos, this is the extended version, sitting in at a whopping 5:54. If you sit through it, lemme know what you think! It's identical up to the time that the original went, which I re-uploaded to soundcloud as well, in case anyone liked the shorter better. Without further ado, here it is:

And as always, feedback is appreciated!

@Reposer - Looks like now all that's left to do now is trim out any unnecessary parts so that the track isn't too long, I think you've got a few parts repeating too much right now but once you've sorted that out I think you'll be left with a pretty solid track.  I wouldn't mind hearing a few more variations on what melodies you end up keeping in though :)

@Reposer: I'm with Scythuz. I feel like there's a number of parts that could be shortened or removed entirely and the vibe would be the same--or even stronger, due to it not being drawn out as much. The progression at the start feels a bit too slow, but that might just be me.

Alrighty, I've updated it, the change is reflected in the prior post, so just play from there again and it'll be the newer version. Lemme know if this is any better!

@Reposer - Up to you now, it can be made shorter still but I guess the question is whether you want to or not.  Personally I would aim for about 3:00-3:30 at the most.

@Scythuz: It could be, although the original is already 2:52, so I wanted to extend it by a decent amount compared to the original, was my idea.m

Battle Hymn: Sorry, I just don't "get" this track. It doesn't make me think of a battle in any way.

Legions (Homeland): I like the vibe, but I feel that for its repetition, it could use more variation (solos, a few appearances of other percussion instruments , etc)

Fall of Graces: I like the growing tension. I think that the repetition is justified by that.

Lameant: My headphones have been a bit weird lately, so maybe it's just me, but the choir seems maybe too panned and mixed a little weird (maybe just a sample issue, though). You also left 30 seconds of silence at the end.

Those are project names, the song names are on the pages. It was made for a specific scene in the game.

For lameant, I know. it keeps mixing wrong at the end. Cuts off at 63 instead of 53 when I export it.

As far as percussion goes, i'm not really a perc person. I get bored writing it, and my current set doesn't have interesting sounds.

@Necrox: It says Battle Hymn so it could also just be a sad song at the end of a vicious battle, let the song itself tell the story, not the name of the song :)

@deilin: In the future could you only post 1 or 2 tracks so that the rest of us have an easier time feedbacking them?

Battle Hymn: Are you using one of those vocaloids I keep hearing about here?  It's a nice and peaceful track anyway, only thing I might suggest is a bit more variation though probably not too much for this type of track.

Legions Homeland: I feel the sustained part playing throughout is getting in the way, it sounds like some kind of drone, possibly a bagpipe like drone?  This piece is also a bit too repetitive for my liking, at 1:14 for example: you could change the feel entirely by taking out the drone and drums/percussion and create the variation just by doing that.

Fall of Grace: I'm not too big a fan of the type of organ used so perhaps it would be wise to look for some better ones?  I would also be very careful with the dissonance in some cases as it does get to be a bit too much.  You also really need to vary the percussion in this one, hearing the same snare pattern repeated gets a bit grating after a while.

Lament of Graces: This is probably the track I like the most, snare is a bit too repetitive again though.  Don't be afraid to take it out from time to time and maybe even use a different type of percussion on the gaps.  I do like the choir for the most part, though, it sounds too distant and I think this is because it's conflicting with the organ so you may want to look into that.  I would recommend adding a refrain about half-way through, possibly with just a bell and strings.

I think variation is the main thing you need to work on overall.  So I'd suggest you look into things like: key changes, tempo changes, taking instruments out, changing what instruments are used, harmony.

Personally, I didn't used to be a much of a percussion person either, but using it helps add so much to a track that it's worth sucking it up for a while so that you can benefit from it's usage.

For the part at the end of Lament, just get the free software Audacity and use that to trim off the end, you can also use it to help create looping tracks which are very important for game music.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
