They have fast-paced percussion with breaks in the beginning, as well as throughout, ideal for battles... I've heard alot of battle music in rpgs that sound similar, although I do have my own style. Also, I'm sure you're aware (having used RPG Maker) that you can change pitches for your songs within the program, allowing for many different feels and variations. Thanks for your feedback but I respectfully disagree. Now, some of these were originally made as hip-hop instrumentals, so that part I do agree with, but I edited them heavily to compliment most rpg battle paces as well as to loop perfectly. Cutscene music? - Ehhh. Character theme music? <-- Not a bad idea. I do appreciate your feedback, it was honest and that's what I was looking for so, thank you.

You are welcome. But fast paced percussion is not the equivalent to battle music. You have a style, and it is certainly different to traditional RPG music, but it's just not quite there. And anyone that pitches music up and down within software is a bit silly, because that isn't good for audio quality and it generally does not sound pleasant. It has certain effects for specific situations, but not a thing to do otherwise. What I'm not saying is that hip-hop can't make for good battle music; just that these are missing something to push them into that territory. There's no real energy or urgency, just a pretty typical set of beats.

Thank you for the feedback. Btw, when I pitch music in the maker (at least MV) it doesn't disrupt the quality at all. And I never said fast paced percussion was "the equivalent to battle music", I said it was "ideal", meaning fast paced percussion lends itself to the "urgency" that you later stated wasn't present in my music, which I will address further down. Also, I wasn't suggesting pitching the same songs up and down throughout the game (though, i'm not discouraging it either). I just meant if you didn't like the original pitch or pace, you could change it with the program, and have it at the same pitch when you use it in-game. I appreciate the feedback though, albeit mostly negative and uninformative. Saying that my music is "just not quite there", "missing something", or "there's no real energy or urgency", isn't very helpful. That doesn't really even mean anything. I don't know whether you make music at all or not, but it seems like just something to say because you didn't like it. I would prefer you just say that, or that it isn't your taste, or maybe even that it isn't what you think of when you think of RPG Battle Music, rather than give some backhanded, pretentious feedback proclaiming that "this isn't Battle Music", as if your opinion is fact, or an absolute. Anyway, what I meant when I said I appreciate the feedback, is the fact that you listened in the first place, though judging from the feedback, I'm not sure how much of it you actually heard. At any rate, it's for that, that I thank you.

I've been working on music for Stormrite! This is "Moonlight," a piece of ambient exploration music. I explored a lot of new territory with mixing and mastering on this one :)

This is really good. I like the ambiance it helps set. The artwork really says it all, it's got a real medieval feel to it. Nice work here I like it. It's clear and well mastered. The levels are well done, never being too high or low. There's a real classic RPG vibe here that I like, and the lack of percussion was a good choice. I sometimes receive criticism for using percussion in my game music, but I prefer a good mix of synths and percussion in my music. That's just me though, it doesn't work for every song either, so good decision here. I can't imagine getting bored or annoyed by this song looping while playing, so that's a huge plus. You've just done a good all around job producing this song. Kudos! :rock-left:

Hey thanks so much, man! I love percussion too, but usually use it only for the more epic tracks :)

No problem. Yeah I think that percussion is definitely appropriate on epic tracks (boss fights, opening sequences, final scene sequences, etc.). If you'd ever like to collab on something sometime let me know. I'd be happy to work with you.

Been a super long while since I've posted in here, decided I'd better give it another shot.

Here is my musical vomit.

I'm making a game inspired by Yan Sim. Here's some of the stuff from it, starting with the "senpai's" theme.

(I'm super proud of this one so please don't be too mean, LOL.) This will probably be the theme for the intro cutscene.

Some stuff from a cancelled game.

Older, but I still love it.

Here is a track that I've been making. It is a WIP, and is a remake of an older song. However, it is quite different compared to the original, but does share the melody and what not. It is the latest iteration of a leit motif used for a town that has made an appearance in some lores of mine. The town is named Mercurel, and is always home to humanoid bird species.

Posted some new music to my SoundCloud, woot.
Very nice, man. Has a David Wise feel about it to me. Sounds like a cool Donkey Kong Winter Theme. Nice work!

Definitely my favorite of the bunch. Getting a Village Dali vibe from FF9 for sure. Really like it!

Pretty cool mood set to start. But man, that transition is awesome. I'd love to hear the full thing if you ever post it when it's done. Looking forward to it!

I want to finish it someday, but, I sadly cannot as of right now. The reason being is that I am using a PC-Intensive VST and have several layers of that VST and it has gotten to a point where it crashes 90% of the time. My PC isn't able to handle the song as I want it. >_>

I understand completely, man. I'm working on a 9 - 10 year old PC and in a DAW the same age. I'm in the process of saving to build a new system as I'm having my fair share of compatibility issues and crashes. Here's to both of us getting up and running the way we'd like to be sooner rather than later!

Posting a few recent themes I'm particularly proud of for my own project ^^
Theme of MC's hometown, theme of a mysterious forest location, and a boss theme, respectively.
The game is meant to evoke the feeling of an oldschool PS1 or Saturn 2D JRPG, so the themes are also heavily inspired by games of that era (relying a lot on the Korg M1 for that nice late 90s synthy sound haha)

The composer for my game Numina just released the Soundtrack on streaming services! It's a collaborational effort almost 10 years in the making and I'm very proud & happy of what he's achieved.

Some very epic battle themes & beautiful character themes in there

That's some beautiful music right there! I love the lush writing :)

Here is a new commission I composed for an in-progress RPG. Enjoy!

I now have an idea of how to approach my IGMC entry for this year's theme, as well as a working title (TBA). Given the limited time I can spare, I'm going with a game design that doesn't require a battle system. Something that could be expanded if I want to make it a longer game, but can probably be played through within 2 hours (the goal for now), at least on a speed run.
In last 5 years, I have bought 4 MSI computer components and had issues with all 4 of them. With two of them these issues were so huge the board was quite unusable. I think it's safe to day it's my last MSI product purchase.
Thanks Thesaurus.com for letting me know another word for 'noted' is 'noted'.
