This is an AMV for a song I created for a Trading Card Game. Both the song and the TCG are titled "Toons And Towers". It is available on Spotify and other platforms for those interested. The target audience was not small children, because the entire concept is away from the usual TCG formula.

For “not being a musician” (I’d argue making music is inherently musical) I think you’ve done a really good job of capturing the atmosphere and the phrasing is really solid. I do think the tightness of the tonality wavers at some points (the section first is heard at :15-:27 and when that phrase repeats) throughout, as well as the little flute ditty. But, yeah dude, that’s a song. You’re a musician.

im no musician at all, p much eyeballing tracks like im making pasta for 5 people BUT I'd like to share some... concept?

Oh yes, I'm into this. It sounds nice. I feel the bells near the end (1:20 thereabouts) are a bit loud, but I do think this is a solid concept. If what Ms Littlefish referred to as the "wavering tonality" was intentional, then I think it works. Change keys a thousand times, even! Haha.

Oh for sure. Dissonance is one of my favorite things to use and it absolutely works in a piece like this. As for the “tightness”, I do think how the dissonant elements are organized into the chord structure and how they’re suspended into the other moving elements really influences the elevation in execution. Oh man…with some slightly aggressive rubato too? It would slap even harder.

Without sitting down to transcribe it I’m struggling to pin point the exact note pairings I’d think about fiddling with tho.

I'm very new to making music.

Here are some very rough cuts of songs from my game! There's 6 songs in the playlist.

You might have to click the link to get there since YouTube playlist links like to not show up when imbedded.

Most of these will be revised and remastered before final release.

I’ll come listen to everything new in here when I’m done with errands and taking my kitty to the vet, but I did want to kinda plug this new thread I made to serve as the audio version of Resource WIP/Game&Map Screenshots. It’s for game resources specifically and everyone is of course welcome to use this thread for resource purposes, but I made this thread to be a much more feedback-driven environment for game resources specifically. :wub

Naturally, feedback is always encouraged over here too!

Incredible atmosphere! I really like the feel of it, and the choice of instruments aswell!

The Forest Wilds - Really cool how you anchor that droned pad so close to the front of the mix. I really like that, especially with the ping pong in the pan on the other instruments. Really like that you've tried to go for a melody with the marimba, though I am coming away wondering what the melody is trying to anchor to both tonally and rhythmically. It seems to not have the same cohesion with the chord structure and pulse that the other instruments do.

The Haunted Factory - really cool percussive melody at :36, something about the pad that is playing behind it has a harmonic tone that seems to really jump out at times. Don't know if you've tried to do any EQ, but I would try to see if you can find what frequency that might be in that pad so you can cut it a little. 1:28...really cool.

Memorial Haven - Pad right out the gate could probably use a little EQ. Same for the pad at 1:13. I would check both those pads for any peak-y harmonics. I would also absolutely slap some delay on that piano so it has that echo-y ethereal feel I think you're going for.

Frozen Lament - I think the lows and mids overwhelm a little bit in the beginning, but the pad choices are really good here. See! The delay! It works! You can really use and abuse it in a lot of these songs. Overall, I think this has the strongest composition so far and I really like the flow and progression in this piece.

Chant of Alarm -
Really like the little doodle-y notes in the beginning, feels very mysterious Though, I do think it takes maybe a bit too long to transition into the "B" section that starts at 1:20. I was also expecting almost some sort of low drone or base voice to come in since it's called a chant. To me, that really makes me imagine something that feels like singing, even if it's some sort of low pad or string section pulling on the notes of the moving notes.

Termite Mound -
Love that low patch, aw yis....a little subby. Really makes it feel like you could fall down a hole. Again, I think you could use a little more delay on that moving bits. Would really amp up that cave feeling. Good growth in the B section, especially with the new notes introduced on the bass line. Really enjoy this one too.

A track from a game of mine that is in development:

I love this XD I can visualize the location perfectly.

This is all fantastic advice! I'm EXTREMELY new to composing, so this input really helps and i will very much try and implement the suggestions!!!

For the forest wilds and the Chant of alram, I mean for them both to feel a bit disjointed and messy, as to really evoke an uneasy feeling. The forest wilds is the first place you enter after the starting village, and the characters are uneasy and lost. I will still try to get it up to snuff though XD It was also like, the first or second song I made way back when i was still using vx ace XD.

The chant of alram is... somewhat meant to be a misnomer. The "voices" who should be singing are all now silenced, as the underworld's only inhabitants are mysteriously "missing" when you arrive! That being said, I will definitely see if there is something I can do to help it along!

As for the notes about delay: I absolutely agree XD I always worry that too much delay will muddy a song, but I think you're absolutely right about it as it doesn't mesh quite as well and stands out a bit too much.

All in all i am delighted to have some input! Learning how to compose has been QUITE the journey for me.

***EDIT***
I AM SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN TO DOUBLE POST! It slipped my mind as i was just excited to reply!

This is one of the Dungeon themes I made for the game I released a little ways back. Now I'm trying to learn an entirely different DAW for the next project...

I hate driving in games. Imagine your character profile being an exceptional individual, yet when they drive, it makes them look dumb.

My Game Jam entry is a bunch of mini games wrapped within an epic story that will rival the deepest plots of the earliest CRPGs! As a small spoiler, here is one example of a game you will be able to play. Anyone want to try Brat, Krampus, Santa?
so I had two plugin that essentially overwrite each other depending on where they are in the list. so I had to edit what was overwriting one into the other and now they both work. I REALLY need to sit down and just learn JavaScript. I hate that I know just enough to know I don't know NEARLY enough lol.
The Open Hand scandal got even more spicy. The Completionist streamer Jirard made a video response and tossed a bunch of links and documents, but apparently none of it actually addressed why donations he collected sat for 10 years (way too long to justify). He also seemed to threaten defamation suits vs. people for what amounts to pointing out publicly available records. The IRS should definitely audit.
