So I'm having a bit of a problem. I was working on a game and I stopped for a week or two, but when I tried loading my game today to work on it an error window came up that said "Unexpected file format". Even when I try to start my game from the application file in the folder it doesn't load, instead an error comes up that says "Failed to load script". And a little while ago an error would come up complaining about RGSS301.dll in the system folder. I've tried loading other projects and they work just fine, but of course my important one won't load at all... So I'm wondering if there's a way to fix this problem or if I have to start my project all over again. Please help!

Try replacing your '.rvproj2' with a new one (copied from another project) to see if it works. If it does work, great! Now make a habit of backing up your files to prevent having to "start projects all over again"! ;)
If it doesn't you may have some corrupted files and you'll need to find which ones are causing the issue.

Thanks a lot! That fixed my unexpected file format problem, but it appears that I have a few corrupted files... Once I find the files that are causing the issue do I just replace them with fresh ones?

If you don't have backups, then yes, you'll have to replace with fresh ones, but be aware, that you'll lose progress dependable on the file. For example if script file broke, then you'll lose all scripts, that were in your project.

Probably many files will be corrupted, if not all, so it will be a pain anyway. =/

Consider using backups scripts, as they're extremely handy and will save your projects in future. Tsukihime has a great one. =3

Yeah all of my files were corrupted except for a couple maps... But I'm glad I at least got those back, less work for me! :) Thanks for your help and thanks for the script! I'll make sure to take extra care from now on

Just one more info:

Files don't get corrupted without reason. and you should try to prevent a repeat of that reason.

In most cases, files get corrupted by windows crashes, especially if you're working on them when the crash happens.

In rarer cases, a damaged background program can corrupt files while they are being processed or something like that.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
