    Hi everybody!

I am starting in parallax mapping and i'd like to use the script animated parallax but i need overlay images and i dont know how to do this with the Modern Algebra scrip (this one http://rmrk.net/index.php?topic=44635.0). I only know how to animate a parallax but not how to overlay images on it (Using Modern algebra script).

Should i use overlay mapping script too?

Is there a way to overlay and animate with Modern Algebra script?

    Thank you very much!!

    Best wishes =)

    Ruben.

Danget! Hit the refresh button and lost everything I was typing >.<

Time for the super simple version!

Overlay and Parallax mapping are somewhat the same thing (depending on how you look at it). so using both will have problems.

I never used modern-algebra's script so i'll tell you how I do it with another.

I use Yami's parallax script to overlay map and animate.

With Yami's script, you can set a variable to change the grounds layer.

So knowing that, I would have 3 separate layers of the ground.

Statics will be statics across the same image but t he dynamic (changing objects will be different) such as fire.

On the map you are wanting animation to take effect on, have this parallel process going

    Variable X = 1

    wait 15 frames

    Variable X = 2

    wait 15 frames

    Variable X = 3

    wait 15 frames

X= to the variable you set in the script.

Then, when you change map that does NOT follow the same format in animation (meaning no animation with overlay) then you need to run this auto run event on the map you are changing to.

    Variable X = 1

    erase event

    and wallah, animated parallax/overlay layers.

I use Victors Fog and Overylay for most of my overlay needs, though I also have Yami's in my scripts as well. I actually find both to be about the same ease of use once you get used to parallax mapping. With Yami's you can simply have an Overlay folder in your game->graphics folder. Here you can name the Light or, Ground, etc. to the map ID For Instance 'Light120-1' will overlay on map 120, 'light' tells it what type of layer it is and puts it in order accordingly, along with the other layers.

Yami has made a great demo here.
