Hi, I have an issue: I'm trying to use Effekseer for RMMZ, in order to make effects for skill animations. But, when I select the file for choosing the animation, it doesn't show up. I want to notify that I selected the texture from the folder of the game. Precisely, from the texture folder from the effects folder of the game. Can you help me?

just to be clear: are you talking about working in Effekseer to create the animation, or about using the finished animation in RMMZ?

Creating a new animation, with textures made by me. I know that I have to put them in the Texture folder first

then this is not MZ support, but external program support.

I never worked with Effekseer myself but I think I remember a tutorial or two in the forum section for external program support.

But I've put my sprites in the project's texture folder. Maybe I made something wrong

the first question is not where you put the files, but which program you're using.

RMMZ does not use textures, it only handles the finished animation files exported from effekseer.

so what file are you trying to open in which program?

That's what Andar was asking you - are you talking about clicking buttons and trying to manipulate things inside of RPG Maker, or the Effekseer software?

What you're saying is confusing because on the RPG Maker side there's nothing to do with the Texture folder, you only load the .efkefc file from the effects folder.

It sounds like you're not asking a question about RPG Maker, but about editing in Effekseer.

Maybe it's me who I'm not explaining well. I am trying to animate the texture/sprite in the Effekseer software, not in RMMZ. I am loading the texture from the texture folder, that is put in the effects folder, that is in the game project folder. But in the RPG Maker MZ software, it just shows a black screen, instead of load the effect. Sorry if I can't explain well

Okay - we understand you now, the thing that's confusing is that you keep talking about the texture file.

I don't think that has anything to do with a black screen. If you look at the default animations, and you remove (temporarily rename) the Texture folder, you'll see they still play and just show nothing.

If you're getting a black screen, I think that's more a problem with the actual animation file itself (RPG Maker tends to display black screens for material that it can't load). But I'll leave the troubleshooting to someone who has actually used that editor.

what is the FILENAME and FILETYPE of the file you are trying to load?

From what you describe you made a mistake in Effekseer, saving the wrong file or wrong filetype.

And you should NOT place your texture files into the project folder at all.
The RM tends to copy all files into deployment, and having files there will increase the size of the deployment even if those files are never used - and the RM cannot and will never use the texture files themselves.

I don't believe that's correct. As I said above, I renamed that Textures folder and the default animations stopped displaying correctly.

I haven't used Effekseer, but it looks like the textures aren't actually imported into the animation files, but are instead referenced by them.

and what is the filename?
I asked for a reason because if you use a filename that is illegal according to networking rules, no HTML5-game ever will load that file.

For the moment I am using prototype animations, so the name are prototypes too. they are in italian, but translated are "thing" and "circle". I know, it's very silly

I asked because I need to see the actuall letters that the filenames are made of.
Or do you personally know the entire list of forbidden letters for filenames to make sure that the filename is legal?

Just for an example, all spaces are forbidden and any non-latin letters and about half the special symbols that Windows allows to be used for filenames.

I know the rule, there are no spaces or special symbols, only latin letters

@MagicFool64 It's good form to state what the solution ended up being just in case someone with the same problem ever finds the thread.

All the artists on here always share their art, and I wanted to partake in the sharing. I wanted to show off the album art for my game's soundtrack while also showing off this song. I wanted to take a break from all the pianos/strings/jazz. I experimented with some side-chaining techniques to modulate the dub-step like synth.
Crazy idea to help people be more productive. We all upload a photo of someone who is good at nagging, cajoling, guilting, etc. you into doing what you should be doing. Then, after you have posted X amount of times in a defined period, that photo pops up with the text of "Shouldn't you be working on your game?" Just for fun.

That is a really cute avatar concept that you have there! I like it :3
