Hi,

Whenever I try to import a tileset, it always ends up getting scrambled. For example, take a look at what happens with this "Castle" tileset below. Is there anything I have to do to the images to get them to work?

Thanks

You have to import it to the right spot. A1 - A5 follow a different format than usual, and you have to have the tileset in the exact format for those. What you have there is a tileset meant for spots B - E, so import in there.

You may wish to look at the built in A1 - A5 tilesets to see what they look like. That will give you an idea of when a tileset is in that format. However, usually makers will note those by saying the tileset are autotiles and/or put at the end of the name of the tileset A1 or A2 so you know where to import it.

I've moved this thread to Ace Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

Tech-Support is for getting the editors to run.

@King Bowser: Aside from the fact that there are six different tilesheet formats like said above, that sheet will work nowhere, because it is NOT a tilesheet.

It's one of Celiannas Parallax Sheets and intendet for use when making parallax maps, it is not formatted for any tileslot anywhere.

How do you use sheets like this one? Because I have a couple sheets that I want to use which are formatted in a different way then RPG Maker VX Ace's default tilesets.

Search for a guide on parallax mapping.

Basically you don't use the editor to map, but use an image program (like GIMP or Photoshop) to make your map, then import it into the editor as a parallax background (needs the help of scripts to fix the parallax) and place the passability as invisible tiles on top of the parallax picture.

You parallax map them. If they are not in autotile format or in 512 x 512 (B - E) you cannot import them at all without errors. The only thing you can do is either use an editor like GIMP to cut it down to 512 x 512 or you use parallax mapping. And, the 2nd is recommended as chances are even if you cut it down to 512 x 512 you will find that most tiles line up horribly as they were not designed for use in the editor.

Basically, you will either need to find non-parallax tiles, or use parallax mapping. I don't parallax map so cannot help on how to do that I'm afraid.

You can also format the tilesheet yourself, if you want. Tilesheets B-E in Ace are 512 x 512 with a 32x32 grid.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
