I'm trying to set up some stairs in a "one-area" house. Basically, if it works, I can get my character from the upper to the lower floor, then back again.

The problem is that it doesn't.

I can step onto the stairs from the upper floor, but I can't step off of them to go onto the lower floor.

Have I done something wrong?

I usually make my transfers take me to one tile PAST the end of the staircase/ladder.

But really, it sounds like you've just got the passability wrong on that block of stairs.

are those upper/lower floors on the same map or on two different maps?

If they are on two different maps, you'll need one transfer event on each of the maps, the transfers you can maka are all uni-directional.

If they are on the same map and just for grafical considerations, then something is wrong with the passability - either you used a wall-tile (which cannot be moved on) for the lower floor, or the directional passability on the stairs is wrong, or (if you made your own tileset for that map) you set the passability options on that tileset in the wrong way.

We'll need a screenshot of the map where you can't move to find out what happened there.

Like Andar said, we'll need a screenshot to assist you any further.

  1. The stairs are to be set in one map only.
  2. Expect a screenshot in a few hours - I'm on my Mac right now.

Nevermind - I was using the wrong tile type. I wasn't using a floor tile.
