Hi.

So, yeah. I need help, again. Thank you for reading :)

I really have a problem with putting in tilesets. I don't know what to do.

It look like this:
tilesets1.png

I know I've put them wrong but I don't know how to put them right. When I put them into Rpg Maker Vx Ace, it becomes like this:
tilesets2.png

(Using paint and Gimp)

Are there any tutorials for these kind of things?

Thank you.

I have a sprite formatting video in my signature -- it's about how to use images in events, though.

For tilesets, there is a very strict standard. You can see all the dimensions in the help file, but you can also look at existing RTP tiles to see how they're done. You should put everything on a 32x32 grid. Your image is definitely not formatted correctly. You really want to squeeze everything together because you have limited space.

Here's the help file:

Sets B through E

These sets are handled as upper layer tiles during map drawing.

Each is sized 512 × 512 and you should place 16 × 16 of these tiles therein.

  • The tile on the furthest upper left of set B is for representing nothing placed on the upper layer, so make sure to leave it empty.

Hi Tommy.

Thank you for your help.

I know these images wasn't formed correctly at all, but at least I tried.

I'll try with what you just wrote. Just think it's really hard and I want to make a game sometimes, because I really like to play with Rpg Maker. Except I only have Lite verison because I don't have enough money to buy it.

I trying my best to, I'm swedish and some words I can't understand but I look up what they means.

The tileset you attached in your original post is NOT formatted as a tileset for use in Ace - it looks like a parallax tileset, because tilesets in Ace must not have any free/transparent space between the tiles. You'll need GIMP or Photoshop to turn that picture into a correct tileset for use in the editor.

Second, there is not one, but six different tilesheet formats for Ace. If you go to the resource manager and view the tilesets there (or go into the help file), you'll see that a sheet for A1 has a different structure than a sheet for A2, A3, A4, A5 or one of the B to E sheets.

Usually Tilesheet names contain one of those combination (A#) in their name to indicate into which slot they go - placing a tilesheet in the wrong slot will cause a lot of problems and make it unusable.

Take one of the existing tilesets that RPG maker came with, and open it in GIMP. Then enable a grid that is 32 pixels by 32 pixels. You should be able to see that everything is lined up on that grid. That's what you need to do with your tiles.

I attached a file showing what I mean. You can see that the small items all fit inside one box. The larger items fit perfectly inside 2 boxes, or sometimes more.

I quickly moved things around.  I haven't tested it with RPGMaker because I'm lazy, but it should work, assuming I didn't do anything wrong.  I don't like that you can't put bathroom stalls next to each other but that's mainly because they're 16 pixels too narrow.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
