Hello! I am writing this post at the request of my son, who is too young to create an account.

He has been working on a game using RPG Maker VX Ace, for a few months now. He's reached a point where he's stuck. The problem as he describes it:

Someone is supposed to get murdered in a cut scene. And then murderer walks away after he shoots the person. And the guy is dead. But then the player (not the murdered person, the main player who was watching this scene) can't move. It's like the cut scene never ends.
If anyone can think of what he may have done wrong and can offer some assistance, we'd really appreciate it. My son is only 10 and this is the first game he's ever made, but he's really enjoying the process. Thank you!

Your son probably has an autorun that is set to run still, as autorun events always run. He will need to turn off the autorun (usually done via a self switch) and then have a 2nd page set to run when the self switch is set, which has nothing in it.

Also BTW, you could try printing off the tutorials linked in my signature. Some of those might help explain common issues.

I'm not sure how VXA works exactly, but there might be a stop-all-animations or stop-all-movement switch inside the movement page or as a separate event action somewhere. Or some box might be checked saying to repeat movement, or repeat the wait.

But what I really came here to say is: "Problems with a Murder Scene" sounds like a great title for a homicide game, lol

Thank you very much. This fixed the problem. My son is very happy that he can continue with the game.

Thanks also, SepulcherGeist, for the response.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
