Problems with DirectX Audio

Saw the site, thought it would be good.

Downloaded the files to the PC,

Followed the on-site instructions,

Clicked the link and...

"Failed to initialize DirectX Audio"

So, how do I get it initialize DirectX audio?

Try reinstalling DirectX on your computer. Sounds like it's a corrupt library file for DirectX.

So what? Your files can still be corrupted. Just reinstall the DirectX and see if the error pops up again.

Not every game uses the exact same version and libraries of DirectX. As well, not all games even use DirectX at all. There's a very high chance that this is a problem with DirectX and not RMVXA. After reinstalling DirectX, if the problem still occurs, see if you can't get a previous version of DirectX to install on your computer. It could be a bad distrobution of it.

Last I've checked you have to download the full DirectX system in order for it to work. As well, if the computer isn't very old, it's entirely possible DirectX isn't installed or an outdated version is installed due to the fact that Windows has no requirement to have it installed to run. You should only need to google DirextX Runtime and it'll probably be within the first few microsoft.com results. Don't download it from any other website besides Microsoft.com or it could be a virus.

Downloaded, re-installed DirectX (entire), still doesn't work.

What are you running as your OS? Also, is it RMVX/ACE/XP? I'll assume ACE/VX for now.

Have you updated your Drivers yet? You should try that and try disabling Windows Compatibility Mode on the engine you are opening. I have seen this cure the DirectX audio problem and the COGen DRM problem (yes I know you don't have the last problem).

Also, where have you installed the engine?

I am having the same issue, all i did was move my comp from one room too another and Ace and VX gave me that error > . <
