I've been working on my game for months and months now, I still haven't gotten that far into it. I have just realised how hard it is to make a full length game, I started off with ambition and ideas which gave me the passion to create but then you realise how much there is in the way off your ideas such as lack off sprites, characters, music that would match these ideas. I have been prowling these forums and other forums for any resources and sprites and such but never have I found anything that would live up to my imagination it's just too bad that I am really bad at drawing. The tedium of the engine itself can put you off plenty there's so much to learn. Basically it sometimes feels as though the game engine itself just gets in your way when you have little cut scenes in your head and then when you finally start eventing you realise how much work you have to put in hours can go by and  you have only  managed to make 5 minutes, and by that time you've lost that creative spark and mostly your will to live,  I mean seriously it's really disheartening when you know you have a good idea but not being able to put to use because of the amount of work that needs to go into it and it's not like you can rush through it you have to test every single aspect. I think this is meant for groups people rather than a one man operation. don't take me the wrong way I really enjoy losing myself in my dream world while making it but more often than not you get stuck because of the sheer amount of work that's awaiting you

Welcome to game development! Believe me - Ace makes it easy. If you think THIS is hard, don't even bother trying to use engines where the core is not already programmed for you.

Yes, it IS made for individuals to use, and many have made games all on their own.

If you really think none of the resources or sprites available here are up to your standards, then you must have some impossibly high standards!

Break it down into small, individual tasks that combine to make a whole, ignore the big pile, and concentrate on one task at a time. When it's done, pick up another and do that. If you keep focused on EVERYTHING that needs to be done, you'll end up crying in a corner.

Welcome to any creative work field.

Oh hey, I need to do 5 bust up portraits, take 6~12 hrs for one drawing+coloring, by then too tired and binge oneself with chocolates and watch anime.

It's perfectly normal for game development stuff to take this long, trust me. Ace makes it easy and is actually not designed for teamwork. At least now you have more appreciation for game developers and their jobs XD

Shaz I think you misunderstood me when I said about the resources it's not the standard of it it's just not unique enough how do I put it, it feels like there is something always missing if you want to make a character let's say a space cowboy with neon green hair and one red eye with robotic limbs you wont find it easy or at all anywhere unfortunately unless you get some kind soul spending their time drawing for you, see where im getting at. These are some of the obstacles I encounter all the time, So basically I have to make do with what I got because I'm crap at drawing trust me I've tried.

But you might try frankenspriting.  That's how I've got some of my stuff, by combining 2 or 3 sprites, taking from each what I want.  Alternatively, using GIMP (it's free) or Photoshop if you want to pay, it's fairly straightforward to re-colour hair, clothes, accessories etc..  I am seriously bad at drawing, but I've been able to edit things until they are good enough for me to use.  Yes, it took a bit of practice at the beginning, and I still need to improve some more, but I've been able to get it up to a standard that I'm not ashamed to use what I've edited.

It wouldn't be as rewarding if it was easier.

Yes, I did misunderstand. As long as you're going to have something out-of-the-norm in your game, you're up for custom sprites. We have a number of artists on the forum, though, who are happy to take requests and could make them for you, as long as you're not after too many. And if you want a lot, or want to make a commercial game with them, you also have the option of paying someone to make them for you.

Unless you're an artist AND a musician AND a programmer, it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to make a game on your own. You don't need to form a team - just asking for help for small things here and there will usually see you through :) Don't even TRY to do it all yourself - you'll burn out, lose interest, and end up hating your game. None of those things should happen - you should enjoy it, for the most part.

Game development is a time-consuming and really hard task... and IMHO, from my experience with other Engines (both 2D and 3D), RPG Maker brings the best results with the smallest effort done (comparing to other engines)...

anyway, Good luck on your endeavors

and don't expect yourself to bring great results at first... you'll just burn out yourself and probably get more and more disheartened...

Thanks for the feedback, peeps! I will try to take small steps and not big leaps because I can be a bit impatient at times.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
