Hello! A noob here with noob problem.

I've just started making an rpg (horror based) and so I watched one tutorial after another. I managed to learn but I have one small problem:

The save.

I'm not entirely sure why but first I made a cutscene about a girl chasing her dog, then after a few lines, the event ended and character can freely roam the first map.

To save myself some time from that cutscene after I edit the next map, I saved at the first map so I don't have to repeat the first cutscenes over and over once I check and modify the next map.

Here's the start of the problem...

When I loaded the save file (which was saved in the first map), it projected the first cutscenes (the girl chasing her dog, to be exact, the lines from that scene only), even though I saved right after that cutscene.

Although the character was at the very spot I saved at, the cutscenes proceeded even so.

I hope I could gain some help from you guys here, since I'm seriously stuck..

Thank you!

(If you want me to record the game problem, I'd be happy to)

EDIT:

I've solved the problem an hour after I posted this and forgot to say it here, it's just about those switches... anyway, thank you, @Andar! It's a little embarrassing that I posted in the wrong forum, sorry about that. I was struggling where to post this too. thanks again!

One basic point of advice: Watching (or reading) a tutorial is always and in almost every case a waste of your time. To learn something, you need to work through the tutorial - make a tutorial project and do for yourself every step that is described in the tutorials, you won't learn anything unless you try it yourself.

Which is also why text tutorials are a lot better than video tutorials - you can open them in another window on your computer and follow every step without bothering to pause or rewind.

That said, your description sounds as if you missed one of the basic facts of eventing: autoruns and parallel processes loop eternally unless they are switched off.

You need to learn how to use switches (and variables) first before you have any chance of making a cutscene correctly.

I suggest you follow the first link in my signature (starting point) and take a month to work through the tutorials linked there.

That will teach you the basics and speed up your later game development a lot.

I've moved this thread to Ace Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
