Hi Forums, nice to see you again!
I'm looking to take a basic crafting system (speaking broadly, I haven't selected one because there are so many) that has experience/levels or making my own and changing it to be slightly more profession-y. I want to be able to add gathering as a profession and create a profession system reminiscent of Runescape, eventually leading to a mash up between three games that I always go back to - Runescape, Dofus, and Guild Wars (I'll go into that later). I've tried a few crafting systems already, but my lack of knowledge on how to write scripts always stonewalled me at adding bits, as I could never figure out how to add experience to a profession with just events and variables, or have a 'non-crafting' profession. I've created all of my previous games using only variables and switches to create advanced features without using scripting, but now that I'm looking for something more technical I'm just at a loss.
Eventually I hope to have the profession system of Runescape (ALL the professions!), the battle system (turn based & strategy using the map) and small maps (maps no bigger than the edge of the screen, movement to other maps by events on the edge) of Dofus, and the hub-type system of Guild Wars (Small areas with multiplayer, and the rest single player with the option of teams).
As for my actual request- I'm looking for a profession system that can both house and easily display any number of profession (levels with icons maybe?) at once, be them gathering or crafting.
