What does this mean?
The person cannot play the games apparently because of this.

I should point out this is occuring in an MZ game, not MV. That may affect solutions suggested too. I know this due to talking to the OP on another site about which game was affected.

"NW.js is an app runtime based on Chromium and node.js . You can write native apps in HTML and JavaScript with NW.js. "

My first guess is that the game has plugins that are written in an older version of NW.js and the person's pc profile is on a newer version or vice-versa.

But that's just a guess on my part

Happens to me all the time, but it doesn't affect my ability to play the game. I just ignore it.

Mostly correct, but actually it's the version of NW.js that the RM game is using, and not related to the plugins itself.

Basically, it's kind of an error with the engine? Not even really that. It's a problem that happens for players who play a lot of RM games and it is a specific problem for the local machine, but may or may not affect other users.

Basically, when you play an RM game using the default version of NW.js that profile is saved to your local machine. Whenever you play an RM game where the dev may have updated the NW.js, that profile on your local machine gets updated with the new info.
Now, whenever you go and play another RM game that uses the old NW.js version, you will get this warning because it's not going to roll-back the profile saved on your machine.

@SGHarlekin had sent me a batch file that will bandaid fix this problem. I would send it here too, but obviously downloading random batch files from random internet users is not a good idea. Hopefully he can provide a source for where he got the file from (unless he programmed it himself :LZSskeptic:)

Here:
As said, it's kind of a bandaid solution as in you gotta use this every time you play an rpg maker game. It essentially just automates deleting 2 folders that are causing this error. You can do this manually as well.

By now, the profile error is a well established "error". It's more of a warning and doesn't really affect anything aside from being a nuisance. It happens when RM games have different NW.js versions. (Some updated, others not so much.) So it will pop back up again likely whenever you play a game made with a different NW.js version than your own project.

With me being part of the RTP podcast, where I play a weekly selected RM game to review with the boys, I constantly get this error, so I just keep this .exe file on my desktop, click it, and get rid of the error until next week. :D

it happens on MV too, if I run my game or editor it works fine (NW.js version 4.9),
when I playtest another game of MV which has version 4.5.4, I get that error too
or when running that and than my own.

I think it might be similair to MZ than, you can basicly ignore the as it takes the
nw.js from the game, not the one that you ran last time.

if it somehow closes the game because of it, than I dont know, but it shouldn't
affact the game though, not in my experience.

I've gotten it when trying other people's games. It should not be preventing that user from playing your game - if it is, something else is going on.

We did find out they are playing the game on windows 11. Anyone tested this bug on windows 11 to see if it might work differently there?

I'm pretty sure I was using my Windows 11 laptop when I played some games and got this, but...don't take that as gospel.

Have they checked the old regulars of false positives from antivirus/malware killing the process?

Onward to more RM game dev glory.... in about 14 minutes. :LZSexcite:
grief rpg maker... why oh why did I have to jump through like 30 hoops to (hopefully) have fixed the engine targeting ko'd people during multi hit/random attacks?
I finally finished the wrong clue death scene. So at least the player can see something cool before they get a Game Over. Prolly be less cool if they have to keep watching it repeatedly.
