We are currently working on an openworld business adventure RPG called Profit Motive and are in real need of a few good playtesters to help us find bugs and raise the quality of the experience.

Responsibilities:

Specifically we are looking for someone who would be available every few months to take a day or two and completely play through the game from beginning to end following certain guidelines (e.g. Play through the game using only a particular outfit, item, or tactics, etc.) We'd need you to write up feedback on any bugs, exploits, or balance and tuning issues you run into so that we can fix them. Finally,we'd need you to play through the revised and fixed versions of the game to verify that we have corrected the issues you've pointed out.

Compensation:

This would be a free gig, but we'd of course be adding your name to the credits as a member of the team and you could have influence on many of the features and gameplay elements we include in the game.

About the Game:

Game Summary

Profit Motive is a modern day, corporate themed RPG. Players assume the role of Myron Meckler, a one-time executive of a major corporation who has been betrayed by his former supervisor and expelled from the company in dishonor. The game follows Myron as he strives to regain his power and position in the business world.

Players will start out as a small business owner surviving the wiles of unruly and unethical competition and grow into a mega conglomerate vying for power against rival companies in intense corporate warfare.

Key Game Features

  • Over the top battles featuring a unique Turn-Based Combat System.

  • The ability to hire key staff and gain the support of NPCs in the world who can be "Summoned"to your aid in battle.

  • 4 Stages of Business Development including: Lv.1) Small Business, Lv.2) Franchise, Lv.3) International Corporation, Lv.4) Mega Conglomeration. (Note that this DEMO only features the 1st stage).
  • Each level introduces new gameplay mechanics and player abilities that add depth and strategy to the battles.

  • Corporate themed story world with lots of interesting character side stories and open-world missions that explore multiple aspects of running a business.

  • High quality background, sprite, and graphic interface art.

You can find full details about the project on our thread here:

How to Apply:

We are looking for people with a good eye for detail and a sense for what makes a fun and interesting RPG experience. You can either PM me directly if you are interested or leave a reply post below with some details about your game development and game playing experience (i.e. what types of RPGs you typically play, how often you play games in general, if you've worked on or designed any games of your own, etc.). We will contact you if we are interested in bringing you on as a tester.

Just give us a shout if you are interested.

I would be interested, I play rpg's about 2-3 hours a day on average and am painfully good at finding faults in them. I don't see me finding them as a bad thing, it is all about finding them before a public release to provide the best end-user experience and is a HUGE part of any games' development.

I play many types of RPG's including indie games made with RM as well as full-fledged commercial games on console and PC, such as Skyrim, Fallout, etc. I have enjoyed quite a few games made with RM and among others the most noteworthy ones as far as fun goes so far would be 'Save your mother' and 'Crysalis' from this site. They were both great. I always am looking for new and exciting adventures to take on and would love to be a part of the team.

Edit: I also have begun quite a few games on my own, have only finished one as I have no friends with an interest in game-design, but am very interested myself. I am currently working on a mostly realistic game spanning the globe with a few slight sci-fi features as well. I am not much of a scripter, but know the RM system very well.

Thank you for your consideration,

I'd be interested aswell. I usually don't play RPG's, but when I do, I tend to stick to more action-oriented RPG's, like Gothic 3 or Elder Scrolls series.

I loved the game. I would gladly do it, in exchange for one simple thing. Help me to find a good mapper.

Came for the anime pic and stayed for the game story. If there is ANY way I can help, don't hesitate to ask me. This game looks awesome, I can't wait to play it until my laptop breaks!

Thanks Hao-Kun! Glad you enjoyed the game. There are lots of ways to help the project, here are a few:

How You Can Help

I would also like to playtest it when needed.

I used to beta test a few, small games when I was a kid, but other than that I admit I don't have much experience as a tester. But I am on my laptop for several hours every day, and I like to play games if they interest me. Yes, "Profit Motive" looks like a interesting game I could spend many hours playing, just like the Ace Attorney games.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
