I've been having a really weird problem lately and was wondering if anyone could help.  For some reason RPG Maker won't let me save my project.  For example: When I go to play test after making changes and hit yes to save changes nothing happens.  Same happens if I try to close the program down.  It's as if my save button has become broken or something.

Does this happen in a new project?

Just tested it on a new project and didn't happen.

Edit#

Think I figured out the problem.  I had moved my Project Folder into the Program Files where RPG Maker VX ACE was stored - and for some reason that I don't understand - if I open it from there it doesn't allow me to save. Yet if I open that same file from my desk top it allows me to save it.

I don't understand why that happens, but I guess I'll just keep my Project Folders outside of my Program Files for now on.

It might be that windows prevent saving because it believes the file to be locked by another program (virus detector or something like that).

Just to make sure that we're talking about the same "save":

If you open the game, make some changes (to the starting map for example) in the editor, then save and close the editor and then open it again - have the changes disappeared?

(don't even try to playtest in this case)

Or does this only happen with the automatic save when trying to playtest? In that case it might be that the save works, but one of the changes in your scripts prevent the playtest from starting or from loading the changed options into the game.

Or do you mean the save option ingame for saving player progress?

It happened when I tried to save it from the File options too, not just the automatic one.  The play test would only work if I hit No when it asked me if I wanted to save changes.  if I hit yes nothing would happen and the play test would not start.  The same thing would happen if I tried to close the program too.  It would only close if I chose No to save changes.  If I hit yes nothing would happen and the program wouldn't close.  Pretty weird and I never encountered something like this before.

I wasn't talking about the in-game save options, though that might would be something interesting to test.  But I'm a little wary about it.  I don't like suddenly having my project files becoming un-savable like that, and it has me anxious about moving my project files around again lol

"Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" are restricted folders under control of the Windows System Recovery options.

Windwos redirects those path to prevent other programs from messing up the recovery options, and you should never manually store files there, only have them stored by the installers.

No wonder everything was messed up with saving if you moved the game folders there manually...

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
