HI,

I'm not sure if I posted this in the right section, so sorry if that's the case.

I want to use some neat graphics in my game that come from several Japanese sites.

The creator's name or alias isn't mentioned though.

Would the name of the website suffice as credit or do I need to mention a name or alias to properly credit the resources.

Thanks in advance!

First, I think you need to know first the terms of usage of those resources... So I suggest trying to contact the site admin or something... Also, you can put the site links here, somebody might know their terms

Make sure that the sites specifically state that all resources are for free use. If they are, credit is mostly optional unless stated otherwise by the artists.

Do you have links to the sites that you got your resources from? I'd like to take a look at them if I could.

I think as long as you mention the official source of the materials your using then you should be fine. It's not your flaunt there isn't a name BUT it IS your responsibility to mention where the credit goes and NOT pass the materials as your work. Good Luck. ^^

It is his responsibility to know who the maker was though... most sites (if their official), has a ToS somewhere in there... if there is really none, there is a chance that the resources was actually not theirs, so it's not safe...

The thing is, how do you know that's the official source, and not just another site that someone who doesn't own the resources felt free to share them on?

The graphics in question are from this site: http://usui.moo.jp/rpg_tukuru.html

Specifically this page: http://usui.moo.jp/rpg_actor_m.html

It is a branch of an association known as Usui, here is their main page: http://usui.moo.jp/frame2.html

I can't find a name or alias on the site, so I wanted to know whether the title (Usui) or the full url were enough for credit.

I should also add that there is a name of a moderator to be found at the bottom of the sitemap.

However, after scanning the site with google translate, i understood that the graphics are entered by multiple artists.

I did, and I also read the FAQ's, however, it is only mentioned there that you are allowed to edit the files (which is what I plan to do).

But there is no mention of having to give credit for them.

I did say it's his responsibility to give credit, that sums up everything that needed to be said.

I'm pretty much stuck in the same boat. Find some nice resource however I can't seem to translate the terms of use properly. Best bet is to email them (if that can even be an option) or find someone who can translate for you.

I tried to use google translate and keep the terminology as simple as possible. when and if they respond, throw it back into the translator for the message. be sure to mention that your using a translator so they can speak simple terms as well. That's what I did.

The Dragon God, please do not continue posting in topics unless you actually have something useful to add. Your posts are becoming very spammy. I have already asked you this once today. Thank you.

I'm cheering him on, so let's get this straight. Your telling me no one can show people support here OR are you basically saying your singling me out as a target today eh?

Let's get THIS straight. STOP ARGUING WITH MODS!!! You've done it WAY too much, and we're tired of it.

Support threads are not the place to chat. If you want to encourage someone, give them help, don't just make unrelated comments that get them no further to their goal.

I also very strongly suggest you quickly change your "About Me" and "Interests" sections on your profile and remove the passive aggressive hidden attack on certain mods. WE also don't have to tolerate people who cause trouble on the forums.

入れて下されば結構です。

Translation:

Hi there,Thank you for your interest in our website.

All materials were created by us and can be used by anyone. (freely)

Please credit Usui (臼井) or Kyoto Katsuki (香月京都).

(And then he says something about wishes, I think it's something like "You can use them to your wish/if you wish)

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
