Hello folks.

I would love to see a JS that makes objects glow with a pulsing effect in the darkness like "an magic orb in a dark room" or "Firefly in the wilderness in total darkness".
Would that be possible to code?

I think other would like that function too for various projects.

Thanks in advance.

You can do this using an event set to parallel that tracks the location of the event you want to glow.

You then create a transparent image to overlay over the object you want to glow.

There are tutorials for this on YouTube, and here in the forum.

Check "lighting effects".

I have already tried that before, but they does not glow in the darkness, you need a light source along with the event to see it.

You can play with tints/overlays/parallax techniques for lighting.

There are tons of ways to do it.

I would recommend watching some youtube videos and following along, for this it doesn't really NEED to be an MV tutorial.

There are basic techniques that work globally among most makers.

I have already tinted the map to where i want it.
The problem is that i want a specific object / event to have a pulsing glow to it just as a visual effect beside the function of the actual event.
And that effect shall also be used in different location on the same map as well as on other maps in the project i am working with.

Me and my friend have been working with some new sort of tiles (Semi-Parallax) and would love to try some cool idéas out without using several overlays and such, and there has to be a way of doing the visual effect with a JS that's creating such glow / pulsing glow effect.

I have been trying some lightning scripts as well, but none has a pulsing effect which could be regulated with "Opacity levels" but i am no sure how to implement that functions to the scripts.

That can be tricky.. you would need some sort of animation to play over and over again.

Or you can create your own animated tile (like the glow on the lamps in the included)

Well, them "lanterns" "torches" does not glow in total darkness.
All tiles / sprites needs light to show.

I am looking for anything like "Khas Lightning" for MV that does not cost a fortune and that does not crash as soon as i put in some other scrips as well.

There is no such thing as "glowing" in a video game, it is lighter graphics in a darker surrounding or something similar.

Any other effect that looks like glowing is going to use a very similar technique to those torches and flames and the area outside the actual light.

I have seen ways of doing it, but it sounds like you might be a bit confused about the mechanics of how this is done.

That is why I suggested watching a bunch of different tutorials, and follow along.

A transparent picture will work (will not pulse)

An animated transparent sprite could work (will pulse to the frequency you set it too)

Or an animation constantly playing over the event (can cause major lag)

Unless I am missing something important, I am trying my best to offer suggestions.

Well, first of all.

I know for sure that it's possible to create a glowing effect.
I used it in RPG Maker VX Ace before, so it can also be done in MV by someone that know how to create a Java-Script that provides that function.
End of duscussion. If you dont know how to create such script, please stop bothering me with things that does not help me out.

This is a Script-Request part of the forum and not a "Solve the problem in other ways - tutorial" part of the forum. Please respect that.
It's qute anoying with people that does not keeps to the topic.

Just trying to help since said plugin doesn't seem to exist yet, but fair enough.

Good luck

wow, way to show appreciation for someone who's trying to help you!

Just so you know, a lot of times people request scripts when they can do things easily with events, just because every time someone asks how to do something, others tell them about all the wonderful scripts out there without stopping to think if they're really needed.

We are doing people a favor by suggesting ways to do things without scripts or plugins - as you said - every time you add a plugin, something breaks.  If you don't have to use a plugin, wouldn't you want to go the easier option?  They usually say 'thank you' for being taught something new.

Can't you just edit the character sheet so there's a glow around alternate frames?  That's how glowing lanterns are done with the RTP - and set them on Stepping Animation.

Hello Shaz.

First off.
I do appreciate people who are trying to help, dont think otherwise, but i think a topic is a topic. I do sure can be open for other solutions too.

Now to topic...

I don't know anything about drawing at all, so how to make such layers and sheets i have no idea how to make it work even.
A script is like an on and off button you just use the call command for it and it works.

For an example:
If i use Terrax Lightning for my torches, Lanterns, Fires, etc. That script are lightening up the surrounding including the source itself and stays that way when i walk away.
They still shows in the darkness so to say.

Sorry for my bad Swenglish. I hope you will understand.
