Are we allowed to place our games made with RPG Maker VX Ace on Steam Greenlight? I do have a rather large project in the works right now, and I'd like to know if I can attempt to get it into the Steam market.

Thanks for your time

Yes, dozens of games have already done that (or gone directly to steam publishing).

However, are you aware that there is a fee for greenlight access? That fee goes directly to charity because its main reason is to prevent hobby-type games from enterin, but it does mean that you have to put money behind your idea (I think about 100$, but better check Steam for the details)

You can also check past commercial discussions where that question has been asked before

I've moved this thread to Commercial Discussions. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

To post on greenlight you first need to pay the Submission fee which is £70 here, but it may be different in other countries.

You can get it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/219820/

However, make sure you read the rules :)

Before posting your gameBefore you post your game to Steam Greenlight, you must agree to the following:

  • You own the rights to sell the game you are posting, or you have specific authorization to represent the developer
  • You agree to the terms and conditions of the Steam Subscriber Agreement
Additionally, you agree not post any item to Greenlight that contains the following:

  • Someone else’s game, unless you have specific authorization to do so
  • Porn, inappropriate or offensive content, warez or leaked content
  • Cheating, hacking, game exploits
  • Threats of violence or harassment, even as a joke
  • Games using copyright material such as assets or intellectual property without permission from the owner
  • Soliciting, begging, auctioning, selling, advertising, referrals racism, discrimination
Abuse of Steam Greenlight will result in forfeit of your Greenlight Submission fee and/or banning from Steam Community services.

looking at your list of games and such you have duckdev . That big brother one would neer be allowed to pass fan-made status or even be considered to be sold. That is due to the fact you would have to get the permission of ABC and the creators of Big Brother.

You would also need to make sure you are not using any resources that you don't have permission to use. If you downloaded a lot of resources online, there's a chance they've been ripped or shared without permission - you would not be able to use any of those in a commercial game.

My mistake, thank you for fixing my error.

Also yes, I am aware of the fee. I do have the proper funds. I wouldn't be asking if I didn't :)

I didn't intend on that one to be on steam, yet alone Greenlight or any other store/webpage of the sort. I am part of a small community that talks about the show and I am making the game for them :) Thanks anyway,

I purchased all the materials used. Any others I made myself. The materials I used all state in the 'readme.txt' file that as long as credit is given, I am given full permission to sell the game.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
