I'm using the quest journal script from Modern algebra. It was working great until I tried o make my own quest. I followed the exact format that the instructions said to but whenever I start the game it gives me an error message.

Can anybody help me?

I tried to get a screenshot of my quest script but I don't know how.

You may need to learn how to get a screenshot up for a post, so I will provide you with a tutorial below.

To get a sceenshot hit the print screen button on your keyboard. it should be abbreviated  "PrtScn" after hitting it once, go to word and paste. From there save image as by right clicking the mouse over the image in word, ta da you have your image!

Need more advice?

To get it on the internet use photobucket, go into the post click the paste option. Then bam! You have your image in your post.

We need to know what the error message is. This needs to be exact and all of it so a screenshot would be best.

supertristan00, please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

Just edit your post and add the extra info.

I've moved this thread to RGSSx Script Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

You don't need to get a screenshot of your script. We only need screenshots if it's something in your event or database that we need to see. For a script, just copy the relevant lines and paste it into your post. Make sure you put [ code] and [ /code] tags around it (without the space), and if it's a lot of lines, put the whole lot into spoiler tags too.

The error message says:

script "quest 1" line 1: SyntaxError occured

unexpected key word_when
when 1

I thought according to the instructions that you were supposed to put "when" at the top and then a number and that would be your quest id. If I take out the word when it says that they couldn't find the id for q (short for quest).

ps. sorry for double posting I didn't know you could edit old posts.

you need the "when #", but somehow you placed it at the wrong position.
Please copy your variant of the quest section from modern algebra's script and place it here for us to check.

We need everything between line 777 (before the "when 1" of the example quest) and the "end editable region B" (which marks the end of all defined quests).

Don't forget spoiler and code tags when posting it here.

EDIT:

I just reread you message and found the problem:

script "quest 1" line 1: SyntaxError occured
You have to write your quest INTO modern algebra's script, you CANNOT place that code into a new script slot.

Oh i can see how that could be a problem. Do you know exactly where in modern algebra's script I am supposed to put my own quest script?

Exactly where he tells you to do that - in editable region B, where he placed the first example quest.
Each quest description (because those aren't scripts, only data segments) has to be completed before the next one starts, and all data has to be entered before the line that reads "end editable region B".
