Question about Ace and Map Size/Event number

Hey there folks, SaintInix here.

New to the forums, and I've only been playing with RPG Maker for a couple days.

My question is this, is it inconcievable to have a large map if using a Anti-Lag script?

I've got the rough draft of a 350x450 map put together, and I've populated it with 65 locations.

If I go minimal on events with the World map, and do all the serious event coding inside dungeons and interiors, would it work at that size with just entrance events to the various places I've scattered around?

I know the recommended size for maps, but I wanted this to feel epic.

I planned to figure out a way for the character to have his own house, tons of mechanics for crafting, need it to feel real, and not all jammed together.

Any help would be great.

We can't give you a fixed number of events, because it depends on the events themselves.


Pure decorative events can be counted in the hundreds before lag happens.


A single badly designed parallel process event can make a small map unplayable.


A hundred basic transfer events should pose no problems - but filling that map with content could be one.


I suggest you load the sample map "field 1" (right-click in the map list window to get to the sample maps), place a ship and the player there and then start walking around.


How long do you think it will take you to see the entire map, even without battles or distracting towns?


After that experiment, think again about your mapsize...

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have done some running around, and I was going to try to figure out a fast travel method.

Possibly a horse or something, I wanted to have a large map to enable a huge region customization.

I'm planning on making it a lengthy game with lots of things to do.

Built the first version of the map yesterday, and it's fairly well populated.

Any other suggestions? I'm open to feedback, just have my heart set on a big world.
