Question about having skills affecting enemies differently.

Hi! I'm new to using RPG Maker VX Ace and have been stuck on this for quite a while. I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to make a damage formula that would damage one enemy and deal 0 damage to the rest while still targeting them. For context I want it to be an attack that damages the target and paralyzes all enemies, I also already have the target manager script so that it processes the attack on the target separately from the rest. However no matter how I set it up either every enemy takes damage or none do. Any help would be appreciated!

Ok, I'm far from the best person to answer this but I'm working on a bunch of problems like this myself so I'm going to try and help you brainstorm. What target manager script are you using?

You could make the skill a single target skill that also calls forth a common event that does the paralysis portion of your attack. There are options there to select the entire troop and add a state (paralysis), and you can even add in an animation for the paralysis portion through the common event as well.

If you have trouble finding it, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

You could use a special (hidden) element for the attack. Then you add a state to the target that makes him 100% weaker to that element (thus receiving damage) while other enemies will have a normal 100% resistance to said element (thus resisting all damage).

With the state approach it's the other way around. You add a state of resistance to paralysis to the target and the rest of the enemies will remain with no special resistances, thus getting affected.

Edit: also, you might wanna share the target management script you're using, like Desperado said. It would help us get a better view of how you're setting up that skill.

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
