I just thought I should ask this, don't know if it'll help. However I noticed my game I just started in RPG Maker MV, is almost 500MB, and I didn't even start mapping yet.  My question is, is there away to shrink the size?  Would it help if I remove the graphics, and music I am not using, or will that cause problems?

In the end you should remove everything you aren't using because it will put them in the final game. If you start now with removing unneeded things you won't have to check what you are using in your game and what should be removed.

Thank you. It'll be awhile before I decide what music to use, and not to use. I already know what graphics I won't be using.

RMMV
If you want to go that route, I would remove EVERYTHING from the resource folders - apart from the img/system folder. Then go through the System tab and determine what sounds, images, etc you want and add those. Then go through the Animations tab and decide which ones you want to keep, and add the animation images and the SE that they use. If you're going to scrub the database and put all your own stuff in there, you can leave it at that. But if you want to use stuff from the default database, go through and determine what resources they need and add those.

From there it's just a matter of adding things as you need them. The you'll know your project will ONLY contain the things you really need.

On the music, put in both the ogg and the m4a versions. When you export, it WILL only use the file for the platform you choose.

There's no way to start new projects with blank folders, correct? You always load the RTP into the editor upon making a new project?

I'm glad that you can go and delete unused assets as needed, but if features ever get patched in, I'd love to see the ability to start new projects with blank music and image folders so I don't have to go hunting for things that are bloating the file size. :)

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
