Hello!

I am very new to RPG maker and game creation, and am using VX ace. I just started learning yesterday, so I apologize for the noob question.

I am trying to make an introduction using pictures, text boxes, and one SE. I wanted the SE to play 3-4 times while the text box is up,

and I cannot seem to find a way to do this. The SE can only play before or after the text box.

Example of what I want it to do is:
A text box pops up with the words "You hear an alarm going off! Beep beep beep!!" and have the sound effect of a beep

noise playing while the text box is up, and not before or after. When you close the text box, then the beeping stops.

Is there a way to fix this? :) I have not been able to find anything online when searching. I was hoping someone could point me in

the right direction.

Thanks! <3

You can have a switch turn on right before the ShowText, and then a separate Parallel Process event that requires the switch, which will have the Alarm SE looped, until you turn the switch off again within your cutscene.

O.O!!  Thank you very much! I will go try to do this. :D

I did most of the starting tutorials, but I feel like it left a lot out. @_@

I appreciate the help. ^-^

Here's another way to do it, without using an extra event and switch.

Use a Set Move Route on This Event, and have a Play SE, wait X frames, Play SE, wait X frames, repeat as many times as needed. Make sure the 'wait until complete' box is UNchecked. Then add your Show Text afterwards.

If you want the SE to repeat for as long as the text box is open, check the Repeat box, and only put in one Play SE and wait X frames command. Then after the text box, set another move route on the event but don't add any commands to it - what that does is stops the previous move route from continuing.

The SE will play and your text box will appear, then the SE will continue to play while the text box is open.

So, to have it play the SE once per second for as long as the text box is open, it'll look something like this:

Code:
Set Move Route: (This Event) (Repeat) : Play SE : Wait 60 FramesShow Text: whatever text goes hereSet Move Route: (This Event)

It works! \^.^/

This will help me a great deal in the future. Thanks to both of you. ^-^ I actually learned quite a bit more about switches

and the wait commands trying these. I am having fun learning so far. :D I appreciate the boost.

I find it interesting seeing all the different suggestions people can give to solve the same problem. I often find I've done things "the hard way" and someone comes up with something much more simple than my initial idea.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
