Agreed. I know that segments take more time and effort, but I think, it is very well reasonable to expect that effort from a store pack. So, I hope, you make the premade homes with segments that one can better use to make a house longer etc. Would offer so much more ways to use the houses.
The thing is, then we might as well create a tileset instead. The buildings will either be created by the artist, or we will make autotiles so that the user can create their own buildings. Creating 'segments' or 'parts' of buildings to mix and match would simply not ... mix and match. Perhaps it's difficult to understand for someone who doesn't create tilesets, but getting things to work together seamlessly is one of the hardest and most difficult thing to do.

It's kind of the issue we have with portrait generators - everyone ends up looking the same, because you only have one base to work with, unless you want to adjust all the parts to different bases, which is seriously time consuming and not worth it.

It would be hard to create unique buildings when we have to focus on getting them to work with each other.

Whenever we release packs for our store, we normally strive to make them useful to as many people as possible. So, we try to include both pieces that are pre-made/easy to map with and pieces that the user can edit into something that's unique to their project. It's quite a lot of extra work to set up tiles like this, but it's well worth the effort if it means more users will be happy with the pack.

Now, this houses pack is a little different (hence why we made a thread/poll about it). It would be a pack that would primarily interest those of you who are not artists or who do not hire artists and mappers to create unique maps. The main draw of a pack like this is that it's easy to use and quick to map with. Those who want a more unique feel to their maps will still need to do a little extra work - but this is no different than how things are with any other pack.

In a way, think of this pack as something that compares to the Luna Engine - in the sense that it has a potential to be useful to anyone, but it would be the most useful to people who don't have as much experience with mapping and art. :)

Well I'll be buying the pack when it comes out :D

I like the sound of this pack, cause I'm not very good at art so this tile set pack will come very in handy!

As a new RPG Maker user, I find it helpful using pre-made buildings as a models. I try to make my own using the tiles, but using the pre-made houses as a guide. Overall, when it comes to designing houses and maps, I really lack the "vision" so I might be interested in this. It depends what style they are. I do love that Victorian looking house :)

I just want to show this image:

The left is what you can create using RPG Maker's map editor. The right is what can be created if it's up to the artist (no tileset restrictions). The right would not be possible if we had to create 'segments' of the building so that it could be matched with something else. It wouldn't be a unique building anymore.

However, I have seen a user on this forum using the above pictured building and creating new buildings out of it, so parallax mappers will still find it of some use.

Yeah I would love to get my hands on those premade buildings, and to make more, mix and match with it on GIMP.

Okay, you convinced me! (again, not that I have ever changed my mind, haha). I would totally buy a pack of preset buildings, whatever period you ladies decide ^_^

Premade buildings look great, maybe look *too* great.

That'd be more difficult to make them blend with the rest of the RTP houses.

A little like mixing XP and VX RTP buildings.

Personally, I don't mind it as I'll edit the images but since it's aimed at people who don't have any skill in image editing, either there'll need to be a lot of premades buildings or it'll hard to use them for mapping a town.

Well, since the focus of the pack would be on the buildings, there would be a very large variety. I can easily think of at least 15 variants per town using just one set of walls/roofs. :)

And in case anyone wanted my quick list of 15:

1- Small home
2- Medium home
3- Large home
4- Abandoned home
5- Inn/Hotel
6- Blacksmith/Weapon shop
7- General/item store
8- Magic store
9- Tailor/cloth shop
10- Tea/coffee/restaurant
11- Bar/tavern
12- Church
13- School/orphanage
14- Mayor/city hall
15- Bank/Guild house
Each of them would be a distinct building, with some (like regular houses) having more than one type.

Just want to say I've edited the poll to see which theme one would like to see released first. It would all be RTP style, so it fits with the default graphics.

If you've already voted, just delete your vote, and you can vote again.

Celianna, this might be a dumb question but...how do you delete your vote? I went to the poll and clicked around but don't see any option to delete your vote?

... It might just be a staff only option, now I'm not sure. Can anyone else delete it? Otherwise I'll just create a new thread.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
