Can anyone give me a simple explanation of variables, please

I had this problem where sometimes I have a specific variable in map 1 and I transfer it to map 2, but the past variable (map 2) keeps playing (event 1) instead of the variable that I set for event 2. is this normal??

This is very confusing. You don't transfer variables from one map to the next.

If you mean you are setting a variable then transferring to another map, and an event on that map uses that variable to activate a different page and that's not happening, you probably either have something else on map 2 that's changing the variable, or your event is not set up correctly.

Perhaps you should show screenshots of your events so we can see.

I am equally as confused as @Shaz . Actually, I am probably more confused.

But here are some tutorial videos that might help you understand Variables better. These content creators have entire series of tutorials that are very good.

Good luck!

Please double check your terminology from the game screens - per the above replies, what you're saying doesn't make any sense.

As for the question, a variable is exactly as you remember it from grade school math. When you're given something like
x + 6
and the result of the equation will be different depending on what number you stored in x

OMG Y'all. I found an alternate Google Drive I 100% forgot I had. All my crusty old game files from 2014 (when I signed up) are in there. When I like...maybe actually make a prototype thread it's gonna be so much fun taking everyone down my memory lane.

Well, my cat died. Just had a feeling something was off, and went to check.
Someone abandoned her a while ago when she was pregnant, and she wandered into my yard.
Took her to the vet, and did all the usual stuff, making sure she had all the shots and no one was looking for her.
She had the kittens. I kept 1, and found a home for the rest. (Continued because of the limit)
Most disappointing adult event: buying a house that no one comes to on Halloween.

Most redeeming adult event: having a kid to take out trick-or-treating again.
