So I am an artist and musician as well as a writer. I prefer to create my own game assets and take that extra time to make it that much more unique, as well as voice-acting. My Question is this : does the encryption for browser-play work well vs deployment to Win/Apple ? Is it trustworthy? I've seen videos on youtube up TO MV on how to decrypt the RPG MAKER files so the last thing I want is to start out on something I've worked hard to create my own assets for just to have THOSE ripped off?

Is this at thing actually that anyone has been victim of or am I worrying too much? IF I encrypt for browser output how likely and possible is it for anyone to rip my own game assets off? I want to beta-test with the outside world for feedback because let's face it.. most "friends" can't be objective. Thank you. A.L. Knight.

I’m sure there are many members who are more knowledgeable about practical solutions but I make all my music and many, many of my assets so as a fellow creative…it’s an unwelcome but likely reality of putting your stuff out there.

Either we take the leap and share ourselves with the world, or we hold all our creations close to our chest because a handful of people are unscrupulous and cannot care.

So…yes. I’ve seen my songs re-uploaded into random, nameless packs online (and of course that bothers me), but it has not outweighed the overwhelming positivity and respect for my craft.

I'm no expert on the matter, although if such a situation did arise you would just point to the original source material. If someone really wanted to rip off your assets they could just screenshot the game. From what I can tell, you can basically rip something off and just say it's inspired, I mean I practically do it myself when I create my own assets, I'm using references from old games.

and lastly, does anyone know what happened to the old database of more monsters, more items and all of that that MV started with.. ? I was kind of let down MZ also starts out ONLY a tiny bit better...
so what happened to that original starting database? I found a dead link on reddit but it no longer works. I knew Driftwood back in 2016 but he's not responding on X or anything seem ya gotta be a member of his patreon to get him to see you.. he like a tweet of mine but never responded on this very matter.

The fish said it best.
You cannot completely stop someone from cracking a game or stealing an asset. You can only reduce the chances. If you are really worried about it, there are some different methods of encryption you can apply. Poryg's asset encrypter uses a different method of encryption than the default encryption. I don't know if this plugin is available for MZ. Even still, even Poryg admits the encryption can be defeated by anyone who is desperate enough.
It's not something I would stress about too much. Apply enough encryption to keep the honest folk honest, encourage customers to report to you if they find stolen assets, and go forward with just some awareness that it's just a thing that happens.

Probably better to start a new thread since most people coming to thread are going to respond to the title and OP.

I am a new user and cannot post in just any forum at this moment.. kind of strange if they force me to only post in certain forums due to being new, yet maybe my post does not fit.. then I'm forced to derail the subject matter?

As far as I know, you're only restricted from posting in the classifieds forum until you have 30 posts. I don't see what part of your other question would require you to post in a forum you don't have access to - it would fit perfectly well in MV Support, right where this is.

It will help if you explain what you're looking for a bit better.

I don't understand what this means. Items in your database are just entries of text and numbers, there is no "more items" that you would get externally and add. You just fill out new entries in the Items tab for whatever you want in your game.

It's similar for Enemies. I am kind of presuming you might be talking about more enemy sprites, but those are image files, not a database. And there would be no such thing as a corresponding bit for Items.

In addition to the default assets that are copied into every new project you start, there are more enemies in your MV installation directory, under dlc\BaseResource

That was added automatically if you bought MV on Steam; if you purchased the standalone version from this Web site, the download link should be in your purchase confirmation e-mail.

If you're talking about something else, you'll need to clarify.

As far as the original question...it's been answered well. Professional games that have millions of dollars spent on them from major studios can't prevent people from hacking in to modify the game or extract assets. Logically, how could you stop it? You can only do the best you can do.

when MV first came out, it CAME WITH a hefty amount of pre-made entries, more enemies and more everything and got nerfed at SOME point. Driftwood AND I think SomeRandom both had this back in 2016 or so .. there's an ancient dead link in reddit but it DID exist . It could be dropped into a new game OR directly into the commom newdata stuff inside the steam or kodakawa folders to allow for EVERY NEW game to be created WITH the ORIGINAL database MV came with and now it seems nobody has seen this in ages.
